Default Rear tail and brake light issue

Hi my left tail light and brake light are not working. They are LED. I have a 2009 xf luxury and there is a fuse box in trunk but in my manual there is no reference to brake or tail light fuse to checkout

If I need to replace the whole taillight is there a video of how to handle

My warranty is up and there was a ntsa on the LED problem. Has anyone had this issue and jag dealer replaces because of the bulletin.

I would appreciate help.

John,

Call your dealership and inquire about the K107 update.

Replacement tail lights come up for sale from time to time on eBay, but they aren't cheap. But still a lot cheaper than a new one from the dealer.
They are a doddle to replace.
Pull back the boot/trunk side lining piece, at the rear end (remove two Christmas tree clips).
Undo three 10 mm nuts, two towards the rear of the car and one towards the front (you'll need a long barrel 10 mm socket or 'pass through' wrench & socket).
Wiggle/pull the light assembly out away from the car.
Undo the single wiring clip.
As per usual, installation is the reverse.
That's all there is to it.
While you are at it you might like to adjust the placement/fit of the light assembly, I found on both my XFs the RHS light didn't fit quite right.
I used some foam rubber padding on the outside of the front (single) mounting bolt to move the front of the light a little further out (it was too recessed), and one or two small pieces of Velcro strategically placed on the bottom outside edge of the light assembly to lift the front corner of the light, to square it up and reduce the excessive gap along the top edge.

where is the single wiring clip I have a 2009 xf luxury model and the wires that come out I think 4 or 5 run into a series of wires taped together. I a referring to the drivers rear tail light. I can't find a clip that you would unplug the old taillight assembly and plug in new. Once you take off the 3 bolts there are clips for the signal light and back up light and the led's seem to be connected somewhere. the only area we could see was a plug on the left hand side but when you pull on it there are several wires that run into the red light cover area. Do you have to take off the red light cover area?

Help me if you can

John

It sounds like the rear light wiring on your US 2009 model is different to my AU 2010 model, maybe someone else can help.
