Default So long fellas, car is "totaled"

Welp, I had some young kid run into the back of me. His insurance company says my car is a "total loss" declaring the repairs to cost more than 75% of its value. So that's that.
However, they did give me about what I thought I could sell the car for so it worked out. I pick up my new (to me) F-Pace this weekend

Ouch! It doesn't take much to become a "write off" with modern Jaguars.

As you don't mention any injuries you and the other driver must both be OK. Good to hear and even better you come out of an insurance claim as a happy winner.

They gave me $15k for it, it had 80k miles.

Of course they don't take into account any of the upgrades I did to it. UK spec headlights, Mina Gallery exhaust, 20" wheels, etc..

Having been hit up the **** myself in the past by a bad driver, I'm glad you're OK.

Minus the upgrades $15K for 2012 with 80K is pretty good,
paid $18K for my 2015 with 45K, would be glad to get $15K back for it in 3 years

That doesn't look that bad. Rear trunk deck, bumper cover, maybe the bumper brackets (maybe need to be weleded, have not looked at these )

How much to buy it back from insurance? Could be a decent project. Car-part has the trunk lid in silver at 300 and full bumper assembly at 500 (cover valence and supports) Low miles like yours shoudl bring about 8-10 G with salvage title. Insuracne buy-back will probably be about 3K

That certainly doesn't look like a "total" to me. A little over 3 years ago, my wife and I went through this, with our 12,000 mile 2012 XJ-L. My wife was stopped at a red light, when she got blasted from behind, and pushed into the ca in front of her. Just from looking at your car, vs. her car, to me, your car got just a bit more that a "love tap". The rear of hers was crushed pretty good, the trunk wouldn't even close, the bumper was flattened, and even the RH muffler was stove in. The rear end damage on her car was initially pegged at $18,000

Ouch!!!! hope all is still fine as soft tissue injuries are so hard to deal with and they tend to flare up at times.

Do like the upgrade though, thinking of a F-Pace SVR soon, Take care!
