Default Topix and alternatives

I'm looking to gather as much technical information as possible on the XE model ahead of buying one as I intend to service it myself.

I cannot find the service manual available on the Internet for free so I registered with Topix yesterday for 24 hours to have a look
I can share the credentials today in case someone needs information pertaining to MY2011
It should be available for another 8 hours

The workshop manual is very detailed and certainly most useful.

However, the cost is quite high so I would like to know what do members use as an alternative

Also, there is no parts catalog there and I cannot find it anywhere else.
BMW has their own parts catalog available for free and without registration ...

Jaguar have moved away from releasing software to dealers. JTIS (Jaguar Technical Inormation System - the Workshop Manuals) ended with 2004MY and the official replacement is the online TOPIx system. As you have found, this is comprehensive but expensive.

The Parts Catalogues (JEPC - Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue) are also online for dealers and not available in print.

Has anyone explored the idea of having a "community" subscription with Topix and share the account among the paying members?
If enough people sign up to the idea, the cost would be negligible.

I would check if this is ok with their licensing model. I would think it's not.

If the credentials are not actively shared, but access is granted to a computer screen accessing Topix, it will probably be a grey area

Comparable to consulting topix at an independent garage computer.

Anyone interested?

I did the Topix down load for my XFR (Took like 3 days) and then remembered about Mitchell, they where the go to people for service manuals before the internet existed. they are now owened by Snap On. Online Auto Repair Mitchell 1 DIY Product Demo - Mitchell 1 DIY. I'm gonna do 1 year just because it's only $16.

I have also managed to download the service manual from Topix and a few PDF's for the electrics but I haven't put them together in a useful document yet.

That takes care of the service manual but it would still be nice to have access to the parts catalog and electronics diagnostics.

Seems that the diagnostics software can be patched to work without a subscription, but without being interfaced to the car I really can't see what it can do.

I guess I'm just a bit spoiled by Volvo that has the "Vida" suite where you have service manual, software diagnostics, software programming and parts catalog all in the same DVD that is updated 2 or 3 times per year.
With the exception of the software updates, everything else can be done without subscription to volvo
