Hello guys!!

I am thinking of upgrading the Fuel injectors since it seems easy to change. The stock ones are 25 lbs and I was thinking 28 lbs or 30 lbs. Have anybody done this yet. It is a 4.2 NA

Bigger Injectors, unlike a bigger carburetor dose not flow more air, bigger injectors will only flow more fuel, and you can get in a bunch of trouble putting bigger injectors on a car without a tune to regulate those bigger injectors, washing all the oil off the cylinder walls come to mind..lol And then you get into things like injector duty cycle, spray patterns, impedance etc. Believe me, unless you are flowing a lot more air into the 4.2 (Supercharger or Turbo) your stock injectors are plenty.

 

The PCM will see the O2 sensors saying not enough air so will reduce the injector on times to compensate for higher flowing ones. Result: if within adjustment limits, nothing useful. If outside limits, an OBD code. You'd need a custom tune to avoid it I think.

I'd stick with OE injectors...

 

There is absolutely no benefit of putting bigger injectors on a naturally aspirated 4.2.

None whatsoever...

 

Awesome thanks! I would just assume I would make some gains base off some experience with the fords 4.6 and the chevys lt1 and ls engines. You know the bigger throttle body, bigger injectors, free flowing exhaust.
I will just attempt this and see what happens or just get a coyote create motor and drop it in.

 

Instead, spend time to understand OBD and closed loop control.
