Just removed the front to change grille. Now I have two "things" I don't know where they are supposed to be or what they do. They just hanged there when I pulled the front of. Post two pictures.
Those are the sensors for the TPMS.(Tire pressure Monitoring System).they sort of just sit in a slot on the under apron in front of the tires..I believe one of the small screws on each side you took out hold them in place..you have to have the front apron all but in place and then you drop these sensors in before you button it all up.
I would also clean those intake coolers out real good too..
Do yourself a favor if you're going to be getting this deep in repairs on your XF, get the service manual for it from JagDocs.com
Thanks for the tip. The problem was solved after I put the new grille in and could focus on the "things" actually really easy. But getting the old grille out was a pain in the a#%
