Here's a short article on the state of the (non)art.

Its like faking an orgasm. You can make all the sounds and noises you want, but its just not as satisfying as the real thing!

^ lol

I find the piping the sound into the cabin sophisticated and i love it. The intake growl in the XF is absolutely amazing.
I have been in BMWs, E63 AMGs, but nothing comes close to XF's engine performance ensemble.

Like silicone implants.

The engine should be tuned to be as quiet as possible without reducing performance. It's a road car.

Driving a noisy car is for the unsophisticated.

Heck, even race cars need to be muffled to qualify for track days nowadays.

Heck, if you said that in front of Walter O. B., he would hit you one across the face.

Since, you find noisy cars to be unsophisticated, p#ck off to the Prius forums Toyota Prius Forum : Toyota Prius Forums

If it's not real, I don't want to hear a simulaton. Being my first Jag or performance luxury car, I was concerned about the SC engine noise. I have come to enjoy the sound of the car immensensly. I think Jag has struck a nice balance for the XF SC. Not too loud under normal acceleration, a nice purr actually, but you know what it is when it kicks in.

Seems the perfect time to question when the XFR-S exhaust system will become available at the parts department? Probably never?

I dont mind when companies introduce flaps into the piping to quiet down the system....and then at the push of a button the flaps open up and the car naturally sounds louder.

but i do have an issue with companies playing sound clips to make it "louder"

Yup, that's the one that gets me, a computer plays recorded sounds through the stereo selected by RPM(BMW) to make me feel like the engine has more character.

BMW seems to have been totally taken over by marketing!
