Default Why so much brake dust - 2010 XF?

I have to clean my wheels almost daily from the excessive brake dust. I'm new to the car is there something about Jag brakes that causes this?

I had a Mustang GT and Lexus SC 430 both sporty / performance and neither were near this bad ( in terms of trying to keep clean wheels)

Whats the deal?

Yep...trademark of Jaguars and Mercedes and they wear out fast too...2012 and up they started using a different pad compound that is less dirty and last longer...in fact, a whole lot less dirty...Check around for some low dust ceramics or maybe the 2012 Jag pads will fit yours....But if it were me, I'd be changing them damn dirt things out ASAP!

Good brakes.

Like tires there is no free lunch for brakes.

You'll find that Jaguar OEM brakes are exceptionally effective. Just buy graphite coloured wheels or do as I do: ignore the dust.

Thanks guys it is nice to know it's not my imagination.

I can't ignore the dust - but love the graphite wheel option!

I will be looking to swap the pads out soon...

Pads are whole lot cheaper than new Wheels...unless of course, money is no object.

There are ceramic pad options that are supposed to significantly reduce dust. I recently installed a set but the car went in to get some paint chips repaired so I won't be able to give feedback on dust until I get the car back.

In 2010 only, the "Luxury" (base) model had the 4.2L engine, stepping up to the "Premium" model gave you the 5.0L. In 2009 they were all 4.2, in 2011 all 5.0.

Thanks for the info! Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, I agree and wasn't seriously considering graphite colored wheels. I like the stock wheels plus dirty graphite wheels are, well...still dirty!
