XF 5.0 SC performance upgrade from factory?
Hello, I just bought XF 5.0 SC (2012) and checked its factory features via TOPix, I see there one very interesting option:
ENGINE TORQUE-625 NEWTON METRE
I thought that 5.0 supercharged XF should have 575Nm and 470HP?
In addition to this, gearbox is 6HP28 not 6HP26.
What do you guys think? If it has 625Nm from the factory, engine power should be somewhat 510HP?

This is interesting because I checked few 5.0 SC XFs which had no such option "ENGINE TORQUE-625 NEWTON METRE"

And it's not 510 bhp, it's 510 PS or 503 bhp. XFR spec that is.

The R supposedly stands for "race", and traces back to when the R moniker was reserved for Jaguars with supercharged engines (S-Type R, XFR, XJR and XKR).
The XFR came with lots of standard kit which was often optional on lesser models, and different front and rear bumpers.
So in effect it was about both the high output engine and "sporty looks".
You probably don't have a "real" XFR engine, but there are indications that the detuned 495 PS version really had 510 PS.
Don't sweat it, even if you don't have a "real" 503 bhp engine it's fairly easy to tune any AJ133SC to 542 bhp or more for not a lot of $.

There is absolutely no difference in the engines themselves. It's exactly the same 5.0L AJ133S with 470PS, 495PS, 510PS, 550PS, 575PS or 600PS.
The only difference is the calibration of the engine control module.

It cracks me up when someone gets too caught up in numbers and makes a big deal over a miniscule difference in manufacturer horsepower rating. A manufacturer horsepower spec means they are guaranteeing that off the assembly line every engine of that spec will develop at least the rated horsepower, in most cases a little bit more. The variance is usually 0-6%. If this engine carries a 503hp spec (and by the way in the US it is specified at 505hp), then off the assembly line individual examples will have anywhere between 503 and 533 horsepower. The detuned 470hp spec engine would range from 470 to 498hp. Unfortunately these numbers usually will decrease over time as the engine is used. All other things being equal, no human being could possibly tell the difference between 503 and 510 horsepower (less than 1.4%).
The original R's were the XJR-S (XJ-S) and XJR (XJ40) neither of which had superchargers.
I don't think that Jaguar help the situation because they quote 510 HP-SAE in US brochures but 510 EEC-PS in UK brochures.
If I remember correctly HP and PS (in Europe) are only about 1% different. So I suspect they prefer to pick a number for consistency rather than two almost identical numbers in the two locations. Prob helps to avoid confusion.
