XF - Passenger Side Door Open issue and Windows not working -HELP Please
Hi Everyone
Great forum and thanks to all the contributors - has already helped me with the first issue which was an issue with the bluetooth module under the passenger car seat due to collection of water under the seat - common problem by the sounds of it. Dried out bluetooth module raised off floor with additional nuts in case of water collection again which I suspect is due to blocked AC drain pipes - that's a job for the weekend to check if that's the problem as otherwise it's a leak somewhere.
Now, onto the new issue which I suspect might be linked to above repair as i had to remove the front passenger seat and all of the front carpets to solve the above issue. The new problem is that I'm getting the Door Open error message on the dash indicating that the front door is open but it's not. Both the passenger and rear passenger electric windows don't operate either which I suspect might be due to me dislodging a connection somewhere when fixing the bluetooth module as above when removing carpets etc. I don't suspect the switches on the locking mechanisms as suggested in other forums as it's both doors effected by this given neither front or rear windows don't work either.
Love the jag but I'm starting to think it might have to go as things are starting to go wrong
Anyone have any ideas on this as to what might be the problem?
All help and suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks All

Thanks n8ertot - I'm planning on taking a look tomorrow and will update here. I'm wondering if there is a connector common to the back/front door that's loose as it was fine after I fixed the bluetooth module problem for a few days then started causing the Door Open issue and electric windows not working.
Thx again.

So, removed the passenger car seat again and removed front carpet - absolutely soaking again after having dried it out completely only the week before. I left it to dry out for the day and over night aided by an electric fan heater, surprise, surprise, the electric windows came alive again and the "Door Open" error message is no longer flashing on the dash so I'm assuming this whole issue is again related to the water that seems to be collecting under the passenger seat.
Does anyone have any experience of this on an XF? I'm suspecting it's a blocked air-con drain pipe as this seems to effect other jags and would explain the very clean water that's collecting under the passenger seat. I've left the carpets out for now and will watch to see if the water is indeed coming from above the dash.
If anyone knows where the air con drain pipes are located or how to check if the air con is the issue please shout as this is driving me crazy.
Thanks everyone!

It's definitely not the air-con as I did a three hour drive and nothing. Today though in all the rain - it's like a duck pond again in the passenger footwell. Water seems to be coming down from behind the sound proofing at the front of the footwell somewhere. Good job I left the carpet out as it's soaking again.
Could be coming in from the bottom of the windscreen but it pours in.
Will have to investigate further but water and electrics don't go!

On most sunroof cars, there are 4 drain hoses, one one each corner, that run down the roof pillars and drain under the car. I bet the drain hose on that side is either split or plugged and overflowing into the foot well.
You may be able to pull the head liner pillar cover (the one that hides the air bag) and see the rubber hose and then follow it down into the side kick panel.
If you can find the drain spout in the sun roof tray, use an air hose and blow low pressure air into the hose and see if you can hear air leaking out inside the car.
I will go out to my car and see if you can see the drain spouts with the glass open and if I can, I will snap a pic for your reference.

You can't see the drain port on the tray from the top but I did find a diagram for a X-type. You can see the hose on the diagram as 10.
All sunroofs have them, the drain hose that runs down the pass side pillar is most likely your issue. Clogged, hose came off drain down in the kick panel, or split hose.

Thanks for the post 10XF Premium but my XF does not have a sunroof but the good news is I've found the cause of the leak. It's all thanks to poor workmanship by Autoglass who have replaced the windscreen twice and in doing so did no refit the skuttle (apparently that's what it's called) properly so there was a 2mm gap between the windscreen and the rubber seal. There is a channel at the bottom the screen into which a rubber lip sits on on the skuttle which the useless Autoglass engineer did not fit properly. Basically the water enters through the A/C air intake and runs into the passenger footwell. So, I've stopped the leak, the bluetooth module now works but it's also caused a connection issue somewhere on the loom that powers the passenger and rear door electrics - central locking, mirrors, feature lighting etc. It seems as it it's a bad earth as it works intermittently and when I move the loom that goes into the front passenger door the door electrics work again but go off after time. I need to have another look at the weekend when I have more time but I suspect it might be a connector that's corroded due to the water getting into the connectors.
I'd like to thank Autoglass for all this inconvenience, cost incurred so far including a new Bluetooth module - AVOID AUTOGLASS AT ALL COSTS AS CLEARLY THEIR FITTERS ARE INCOMPETENT!
If anyone has any other ideas on what could be causing the above door electric issues then please do let me know but as I suspect I do suspect dodgy connections due to the water leak.
Thanks again to everyone!

LOL - you guys have the weather for it though, depending on where you are in the US. Don't forget us Brits live under dark gloomy, grey, damp, wet skies for 364 days a year. The other one day in the year.......well that's out British summer!
