XF trunk / boot button not working repair pics

Trunk was opening with the key fob and the button by the steering wheel, was NOT opening with the button on the trunk.
pulled back the rubber spring pipe from around the trunk harness that connects the trunk wiring to the car body and sure enough there was a broken wire.
Stripped the wire and crimped it back together, covered with a small heat-shrink pipe

You're missing the rubber boot that all those wires are inserted in. The boot is completely sealed and one end goes into the trunk lid hole and the other goes into the body. Without that, it's not surprising that your wire got cut.
To do a proper fix, you can buy the boot from your Jaguar dealer, then disconnect each wire from the trunk lid side and run each one through the boot. If that seems like too much trouble you can either buy a split loom from Radio Shack and push the wires through the split in the loom, or you can buy some friction tape and just tape the wires together.

How much did it cost to replace

I'm grateful that I ran across this thread. I had the same issues and after reading this fix, I discovered the hidden broken wires, repaired t hem, and now I can lock my car with the fob and use the trunk button!
