2011 XJ Supercharged threw a Rod - For sale as part out
An oil hose was rutured and the can lost oil and threw a rod right through the engine block.
It s a very nice 2011 XJ 5.0 Supercharged , ultimate black with London Tan interior and all options
If anyone has interest in buying it for parts please text me at 714.336.9315. Can is in orange county CA.
I can see putting a used engine in it and a used engine is out of the questions.
I am really pissed as the car is so very nice and there really is nothing else out there regardless of price i care for

I'm at 105k no internal engine issues, but have had guides and tensioners done along with the prerequisite water pumps and plastic lines. always dealer maintained with oil service @ 7.5k or 6 months which ever came first. Always use "Top Tier" rated fuel.

I will also point out, contrary to all urban myths about the 4.0 V8, they didn't all explode due to cam chain tensioner failure. My 2002 4.0 had 125k miles when I sold it. It went through water pumps, thermostat towers etc. I didn't see the point of messing with something that wasn't broken.
I chose to ditch my 2011 Jaguar Supercharged at approximately 50,000 miles after it blew a head gasket for the SECOND time. Always dealer-serviced, well maintained, and sensibly driven. I truly think they are a hit or miss, reliability-wise. Personally, I have no intention of ever owning another, but I'm also wise enough to never say, "never." I'm currently two years into a Cadillac XTS which has been absolutely trouble-free which, to me, is a much greater luxury than a car which is beautiful but seriously problematic.

Maybe we ought to survey how many have had CATASTROPHIC or TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER failures. I get that people get worked up when their Jags blow a motor, and "vent" about that versus how WONDERFUL their cars are. It would **** me off, too, but at the end of the day, these are machines, and indeed, sometimes fail. My sister has a Chevy with a Vortec motor that catastrophically failed. It does not mean Chevys are crap. I have a Lincoln 3.5L that has an internal water pump driven by the timing chain that costs $1,500.00 to replace. I don't proclaim there is a "design flaw" because of it. How many X351 owners have had problems with tensioners, either by themselves or that have killed the motor? I would really like to know, versus the thousands of these motors that have been produced. I know water pumps are problematic, and had mine replaced a year ago at about 55k miles. At the time I discussed the legendary tensioner issues, and he says he very rarely sees them. Given I now have more that 70k miles on mine, it concerns me, but the car is so sweet in terms of the comfort, interior, and driving experience.

I certainly do not believe all X351's are bad cars, but the one I had was bad enough to make me not want another. For the record, I have owned 65 vehicles since purchasing my first one in 1974. I cannot speak to long-term reliability because I seldom keep any vehicle more than a couple years. The list includes multiple Fords, Mercurys, Lincolns, Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Chryslers, Jaguars, and single examples of an Oldsmobile, a Plymouth, a Ram, a BMW, a Volkswagen, a Mazda, a Honda, a Jeep, and a Rolls-Royce. For whatever it's worth, only two of my vehicles have ever required transport by a wrecker due to a mechanical failure: my 2004 Jaguar X-Type and my 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged. Also, I'm not saying all the others were great; I had a brand new 1981 Lincoln Town Car that nearly drove me nuts but it still never left me stranded. Other stinkers were a 1975 Honda Civic, a 1982 Cadillac Coupe Deville diesel, a 2000 Cadillac Catera, and a 2004 VW New Beetle convertible. Again, frustrating as some of these cars could be, none ever ended up being towed except the two Jaguars. Go figure! My current primary vehicles are a 2017 Cadillac XTS which has been completely trouble-free so far and a 2018 Ford F-150 whose only warranty repair to date was replacement of a cracked start button. Of all the vehicles I've had, there are definitely a couple of favorites: my 1979 Continental Mark V was a standout beauty that turned heads wherever I took her. Not technically sophisticated like cars of today, but a real gem of luxurious comfort and reliability when I bought it new in '79. My favorite truck ever was my 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn. I still rue the day I decided to replace that one!
