Default 2013 XJ 3.0 Supercharged Engine Noises

Got several noises going on with my 2013 XJ. Never owned one of these before so I'm not sure what these sounds are and if they're trouble or not. It has a little over 104,000 miles. No check engine light, codes, or strange warnings.

Exhibit A.
First video is obnoxious rattle that sounds like it is coming from passenger side back of engine but also sounds like it may be coming from middle of supercharger, can't really tell.

Exhibit B.
Second video is just the engine idling after having warmed up for a few minutes. I've had many vehicles that are noisy in cold Michigan winter like this until they've been running for a long time but just don't know if this is how this car should sound.

Exhibit C.
Final video is a sort of clunking/rough sound the car makes when the engine is turned off.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

could be your supercharger isolator is gone, that is what the third video certainly sounds like. It can lead to a loud supercharger while running as well.

Get the vehicle checked by a qualified mech, hopefully just the isolator. Doesnt sound like chain slap or anything bottom end, but get it checked asap to make sure.

They all make a slight rattle on shutdown from the supercharger and the coupling, but your rattle sounds deeper and louder than I would expect. Mine had a new coupler under warranty at 45K, so at your mileage it would not be a great surprise if it's failing.

Thank you, I was wondering about the supercharger coupling because I had read some other posts that pointed towards that too. I've been worried that someone was going to say "definitely bad timing chain" lol

Thank you, I'll definitely look into supercharger coupler. I have the service history and no record of that ever being replaced.

Mine sounded the same when the supercharger coupler spring broke.

Yep, worn SC coupler for sure, mine sounded exactly the same before I had it replaced under warranty.

Yep. Was just going to say I just paid for a new snout/coupler on my 5.0, and this is what mine sounded like. I also had the supercharger oil changed and the rear coolant crossover pipe replaced while the supercharger was out of the car.

Good advice to get these things done while the SC is off.
And not just the rear cross-over pipe, get the two front ones (upper and lower) changed out as well and make sure they use the newer updated versions that are one piece instead of the cruddy original two piece ones which are prone to split (same with the rear pipe).

If your not sure it's very easy to take the SC belt off and check for any changes in the noises?
I think the others above have nailed it but that could be one last check before replacing anything.

I'll chime in here. if you loosen or remove the belt and can turn the sc pully and it has free play it's definitely the coupler. Mine was replaced under warranty from a TSB and that was a hole new snout with coupler
