2014 xj front accessory drive belt check and replacement
I searched here and found nothing, what is the best guide to the inspection and replacement of a front accessory drive belt for a 2014 XJ?
Nostyle, inspecting the belt is not any different than other vehicles. Look at where the belt makes bends and see if it is cracking excessively. Also replace if you see wear on the edges of the belt.
As for replacing it, you will need a 1/2" breaker bar. If you look, there will be a tensioner near the center of the motor. You will stick the breaker bar into the tensioner (should be a 1/2" square hole that the breaker bar will fit into). Pull on the handle towards the driver's side for you and this should cause the tensioner to rotate slightly, putting some slack into the belt. Remove the belt from any convenient pulley/accessory and then ease off the breaker bar slowly. This will then allow you to replace the belt. Feed the new belt on to the engine like you removed the old one (should be a diagram under the hood of the car showing how the belt goes too). Once you are down to a single item left for the belt to go back on to, push on the breaker bar to move the tensioner and slide the belt onto the last item. Ease off the breaker bar and you are done. Keep in mind that you may need to remove the intake to give yourself some room to do this.
Aloha.
P.S. I lived in Honolulu in 03-05. Lived across the street from the airport, just off Kam highway.

Will look into that. Thanks.
I just replaced my AC compressor last night & of course had to pull the belt.
I did use my 1/2" breaker bar, but with a 3/8" drive adapter since I don't have a 3/8" breaker bar.
