2015 Jaguar XJ iPhone connection issue...
So I have had my XJ for I'd say 3 years now and I have always been able to listen to my music on Spotify/SoundCloud via Bluetooth with no issues whatsoever. Although every time I plug my phone in it says "Bluetooth Audio is disconnected while device is plugged in" or something along those lines. When I go to Sources to select my iPhone it never appears. I have tried switching cords and still have the same problem. So basically, if I want to charge my phone and listen to music I can't because once my phone is connected it disables my Bluetooth audio but won't let me select my iPhone from the options. While this issue is going on, if I get a phone call the phone works through the car speakers as if it was connected via Bluetooth. The tricky and weird part is I have always had the newest iPhone and it has always given me the same problem, meanwhile I have had friends plug their phones in and their phones appear right there in the sources list. When I connect to these phones the audio on Spotify/SoundCloud works perfectly fine. So maybe I have some setting in my iCloud that is interfering with the usb compatibility in my XJ, but I haven't been able to find anything that would make sense as to why I'm having this issue in my IOS settings with my phones specifically. I really just want to know if anyone has any similar issue/fix.
When you connect via USB, that disconnects Bluetooth audio. It’s a feature of the car’s audio system.
Not saying it's a good feature. Most cars these days will let you keep Bluetooth and USB connected at the same time, and then select which source you want to use. Not the Jag.
The fix would be to get a phone charger that plugs into the 12v outlet, rather than charge via usb. Then Bluetooth stays connected, and you are charging.
