Nice. Congrats. How do the R seats feel in comparison to the old ones? The steering wheel is thicker too, right?
Thank you and the seats are different. When I originally tested the R back in 2017 I didn't like the R seats as I had to climb over the bottom bolster.
Now that I've learned the trick of getting in and out of the car. I really like the R seats better.
My passengers do miss the massage as I don't think the R comes with massage seats.
The steering wheel feels the same to me. I'm not sure if ti's actually larger.
2012 XJL V8 Supercharged to a 2016 XJR LWB thoughts
Now that I've had the car a few months I can respond with a fair review and a little difference in years.

The ride feels the same as I went from the V8 Supercharged XJL to the XJR LWB.
8-speed transmission is nice but a lot of paddle shifts.
The brakes are less grabby.
I love the J-Blade head/tail lights.
I love the look of the front/rear bumpers.
I love the InControl Remote App as I can start the car from anywhere. It helps to cool off the Black interior.
The sound system sounds so much better.
The exterior mirrors are quieter when folding.
I love the touchscreen that actually works when you touch it.
The electronic steering works fine for me
Instrument panel
No separate button for “Dynamic Mode” now I have to toggle between the drive modes using one button.
Dislikes:
I HATE EVERYTHING about the ECO Star/Stop. Yes, I know I can disconnect it but I’m still stuck w/seeing that stupid light. I feel like I’m starting up a F-16 lol.
I HATE the heated front windshield as it has glare at night from oncoming headlights and it basically looks dirty all the time.
The trunk will not close unless you have the remote with you.
Instrument panel (yes it made both list) as when you switch from “D” to “S” the gas and engine temperature gauges move.
When backup camera gets wet you can’t see anything and it’s not as true of a picture. It’s like the edge of the screen cuts off the actual view so you have to guess at the exact edge of the bumper.
The carpet floor mats are thinner less plush and the driver mat is shorter. I guess too many people were getting them wedged under the gas paddle.
I can’t get my text messages nor Android play as Jaguar says it wasn’t available on 2016 models.
glad you found your chosen beast, the market here in Australia left me with very few options for selection. Joy looking ride, she will serve you well.

Thank you all, good luck on your build. The exhaust sounded much better on my 2012.
The 2012 had pops/crackles when I released the gas and the 2016 doesn't do it.
They are missed

my front screen is also a massive concern, regarding oncoming vehicles at night. TERRIBLE GLARE. An accident waiting to happen. Surely this is a recall! Come on Jag Show us all how you can help!
I added the trunk close option years ago.
This is the thread and things have changed so you will need to search and see where to get them now. We lost Jez who was the mastermind behind this mod.
It's nice because you can now open and close the trunk from the interior dash button and the exterior button by the trunk and the button inside the trunk lid. Really should have been this way from Jaguar. Trunk Close Module
