Default Blind spot monitor not available - after changing mirror

I had ordered a convex mirror for driver's side off ebay. It came with blind spot monitoring port and also the leds array in the corner. However, it doesn't have auto dimming (which I don't like anyways). But after installing the new mirror, I get a message on the dashboard indicating that Blind Spot Monitoring System is not available (yellow exclamation triangle). Not sure why it is so. I will try installing the original glass again to see if the message disappears. Has this happened to anybody else?

I really like these tiny blind spot mirrors but for the Jag I wanted a proper large convex rear view mirror.

This is the video that thought me how to "properly" use the DRIVER'S side mirror, REAR view mirror and PASSENGER'S side view mirror. I was doing it the wrong way before I saw this video, This is the proper way how to use these mirrors according to the Society of Automotive Engineers of America (SAE).

I did install that mini circular convex mirror for blind spot and it helps a lot! But I still wanted to try out the convex mirror. Turns out that this 3rd party mirror I bought off ebay doesn't support blind spot monitoring system (even though it has those LEDs on the corner) but the car just keeps throwing out this error message.

It's like 3 decades since the SAE came out with this recommendation, and maybe there is 10% of people that have figure out how to use their mirrors properly by following this technique. You can tell when you are passing through their "blind spot" that they aren't using the mirrors correctly if you can't see their face in their side mirrors. It's probably very rare for a driving school to have instructors that teach this method. Very sad since one of this those 90% may change lane right into you and end you or your family member's life.

I still can't get around using flat mirrors for driver's side when I've been using convex mirrors for almost 3 decades now. This is the first car that I've driven with flat mirror and it is very difficult to manage! That said, most brand new vehicles being sold today in this region (especially in non luxury segment) still feature convex mirrors on both sides as default. Some dealerships will even allow the buyer to customize the type of mirror when placing order.

But anyway, back to the topic on hand. It's really strange that when I connect third party mirror (with car battery disconnected), the car keeps telling me that blind spot system is not available (even though I have plugged in the LED module for blind spot and it even lights up). But if I install the original mirror back and reconnect the battery, the error simply goes away. How does it recognize? Does the original mirror have some sort of chip or module that the third party one doesn't feature and the car is able to detect it?

The LED on mirror might be different, and even its lid, the controller might not notice it. Use google how to measure Diode with multimeter and compare original and 3rd party.
