Brake questions
Going to replace pads on mine soon. I plan on doing it before the sensors activate. Do you have to replace the sensors if they do not activate? I also plant to use two different brands of pads, with one brand on the front and another on the rear. Is this going to be a problem?
MV Rider, having 2 different brands on the car is not a problem per se. But, you may find that the braking bias may shift a little bit because one set of pads may be more sticky than the other, therefore, one set of wheels are going to be able to brake harder. As for the sensors, as long as you are careful with them, you don't have to change them. But, I would have atleast 1 sensor on hand as they are fairly easy to break.
Something you may want to know before doing the rear brakes is you are going to have to reset the e-brake system. This can be done 1 of 3 ways. 1) get an SDD computer and tell the computer to reset, 2) after the brake job, disconnect the battery and this will force the e-brake to relearn, or 3) after putting the calipers back on, use your thumb or small lever to move the e-brake lever to position the pads next to the rotor (move the e-brake lever through the full range of travel until you reach the point where the lever cannot go the full range of travel, repeat for both sides).

Thank you very much Thermo. Probably just disconnect the battery. How long should I leave it disconnected before reconnecting and does disconnecting cause any other problems?
MV Rider, disconnecting the battery is going to get rid of the memory to all the windows, sunroof, and shades. So, have all the shades closed, sunroof closed and preferably the windows rolled up (granted, the windows are more forgiving and don't have to necessarily be all the way up). You are also going to loose any memory in your radio and your instrument cluster trip computers are going to reset to 0. So, you will have to reprogram any radio stations that are saved, you will have to set your seat memory again. You will have to hold the switch down for each window till it reaches full travel then continue holding it in that position for an additional 3 seconds to set the limiter. Have to do that in both directions, 1 window at a time. Then you will have to program the sunroof (hold the button until the shades and sunroof have cycled completely.
or 3) after putting the calipers back on, use your thumb or small lever to move the e-brake lever to position the pads next to the rotor (move the e-brake lever through the full range of travel until you reach the point where the lever cannot go the full range of travel, repeat for both sides).
