Default brake service light still on

replaced front brakes and sensor.

brake service light does not go out.

used scanner to try to erase and disconnected negative battery terminal.

light is still on.

back brakes still about 40% so dont think the rear sensor is triggering this. front brake needed it and sensor was affected, so replaced front sensor.

anyone have any ideas how I can get the light to turn off.

2018 XJ R Sport model.

The pad sensor circuit work so that if the loop is broken, the light will lit. So check the sensor wires and connectors. You can try to "jump" the loop on sensor connector to check if you have faulty sensor or just use multimeter to measure the sensor itself from connector (on Ohm setting)

The sensors can be sensitive and easily broken, even when new. If you still have the old sensor, you can cut the sensor end off and twist the wires together to make a jumper. Plug that in instead of the new sensor, that will rule out the sensor as your issue.
