Default Central Mounted Clock

i've been meaning to ask this for awhile....

Is the clock mounted centrally on the dash supposed to illuminate?

Seems like it should but mine never has.

I don't think the clock illuminates. I can't say that I have noticed mine illuminated. Granted, I am normally looking at the clock on the radio and not the one in the dash. Guess I am too much of a creature of habit from my previous vehicles.

I think if you have the illuminated air conditioning vents, then the clock is part of that illumination package. Mine is lit but I also have the lit AC vents and door sills.

The clock does illuminate but it is the most difficult clock to read at night !
many passengers have commented on it in my car .

I do not have the illumination package (I believe that is what it is called) so I suspect that is the reasoning for my clock not lighting up. Thanks.

From 2013 product release:
"Illumination Package ‐ illuminated front & rear air vents, door sill tread
plates and trunk latch finishing plate."
So it would appear that the clock illumination is standard and, depending on your instrument dimming setting, can vary in brightness.

I also do not have the illumination package, so I agree it is standard issue.

I have to correct what I said earlier. I checked and yes, my clock does light when the lights are turned on. But, like others have said, it is a dickens to read if you had to go by it. I would be just happy if they had left the clock off and simply covered that area with leather.

clubairth, it would be interesting to see if there would be something that would fit into that opening that would also plug into the OBD port. that way, with a little bit of programming, you could display just about any parameter that the computer sees. Could even potentially use it to read OBD codes without having to connect up a separate reader.

The 5.0L V-8 has no place to measure oil pressure. Which is odd. You can measure the volume of oil in the sump real time in Liters.
But somehow it doesn't seem the same?

I have seen these Ngauges before and they sorta look like that.

You can program and changes the sensors monitored too.
