I’ve received a gift of a GARMIN DASH CAM MINI 2 and would appreciate your advice with the proper installation in my 2013 Jaguar XJL. The camera is quite small (1” x 2”) and will easily mount to the windshield, nicely hidden behind the rearview mirror. A 13 ft USB cable connects the camera to a USB power source which I presume would be in the center console. My feeble brain, however, suggests that rather than a long run of wire to the console I could connect the camera to the wiring block at the mirror mounting location. Can anyone offer advice either way. Thanks in advance, Thomas
I added Aukey twin dashcam on my x351 few years ago. Mounted behind of rearview mirrow and routed USB cable to the centre console just by hiding the cable behind of the edges of the roof-, A-pillar-, dash- centreconsole panels. Havent remove any panel, but used plastic tool to bend edges in some plases when pushing cable behind of them. Took back cam cable same way to the back window. Totaly hidden and no ratles anywhere.
Yes, the best place to put the dash cam is at the back of rear view mirror to avoid distraction. I did this to mine too. I used the ODB2 as the power source not the hard wire method. It took about 45 minutes. If I'll do it again it's 30 minutes or less. Very easy.
Hide the wires & tuck it in for that professional look. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...all-xf-258786/

I thought about trying this, too. But there's a lot going on under the cover of the mirror. The available voltage locations might also be 5V, not 12. I've not pursued this further. First, the garage was too cold. Now, it's too hot.
Good luck, and if you are successful, please post your results.
New DashCam - a Blackvue DR590X behind the rear view mirror. I'm planning to connect the cable (in the middle of the picture) to 12V inside the roof panel of my XJL (X351) MY2011. Does anyone know how to disassemble the panel without damaging it?
