DIY XJR hood vents
There appears to b a dearth of XJR hoods availabe from salvage or wherever so I wondered if anyone has tried to "roll their own" vented bonnet. Is this something a decent bodyshop could do? Thanks for any insight on this!
Yes it's been done and the ones I saw were done quite well!
But it's a lot of work and with all the metal being Aluminum it's takes a lot of skill.
What he did was to make some dedicated press tooling so he could form the metal to hold the vents at the proper level. Then welded the assembly into the non vented hood. While you can get the vents separately it requires skilled metal fabrication to sink the vents in like the factory did.

A quick search is always useful too? here is a quick one to look at.

Next question in the XJR hood quest......has anyone installed the Vehicle Revolution carbon fibre XJR-style hood(dual vents)? Concerned about long-term durability of said hood when having car serviced. Thanks!
