I also use the digital clock readout nearly all the time. The analog clock pointers are nearly impossible to see in the dark. It does not bother me but, it could/should have been done better.
From: Mooresville, NC (Race City USA), home of most NASCAR teams.
Analog dashboard clocks have, of course, been available in automobiles for over 100 years, so it is not unexpected that Jaguar features one at the center of their dashboard. I think it convenient that by setting the digital instrument cluster clock, the analog centrally mounted clock is also set to the exact same time. However, I do agree this clock, although attractive, is difficult to read under most lighting conditions. For the sake of the rear seat passengers in my XJL I installed easier to read white faced with black hands clock and thermometer units on the interior of the forward portion rear armrest lid. Although not self illuminated, with the rear armrest forward lid open they can be easily seen at night by either activating the rear overhead courtesy lamps, or using the ballpoint led light pen I've provided in the receptacle of the forward portion of the rear armrest.
1 The clock seems uninspired to me as a focal point! (Painfully Plain)
2 The angle of the Clock seems too straight compared to the rest of the dash, layout.
3 I purchased a new XJL, but the Clock say XJ.
A nice throw it in from the parts shelf, touch.
On the positive, it's so bland that the above is just a passing observation. I use the digital readout.
1. I think it's less bland than the competitor's dash clocks. The Lexus G350's clock is particularly plain. Still rather useless. As my dash is black, I'd rather have a black face rather than the blue.
2. The angle is rather straight, particularly since it is next to the pivoting air vents - the clock should pivot as well. Makes it hard to read where it is.
3. I would not expect them to have a seperate XJL clock.
I thought about replacing it with something useful. Like a digital clock. Or, if I had the supercharged version, a manifold pressure gage. Or a large red button that says "Do Not Push"...
Being a focal point of the interior, a great looking analog (Old school) clock would have been nice!
If you can't badge the Clock right (XJ/XJL) then don't badge it at all, would have been my suggestion.

I think a pivoting clock would be ideal too. I'm thinking about buying a used one and seeing if it can be modified to pivot!
I agree that it's a bit plain?
I think it's a take off on the Bentley dash mounted clock? Very similar positioning. The XJ even has round AC vents like the Bentley?
Now that's a clock! It's all mechanical too! But the option for JUST the clock is $160K!!!!
I never thought twice about the clock. I like it. There’s 3 OEM clock options. There’s the purple colored clock that was stock in the 2011-2015 model XJs. The XJ Ultimate editions are fitted with a white clock. The 2016s and newer are fitted with a black clock. I swapped from purple to black. It’s probably difficult to find a white clock. I may be off a year, but purple, white, and black are the clock color options.
yea the lettering nitpick is a bit of a reach, what is it supposed to read "Jaguar XJL Portfolio 3.0" ?
I had some of these tiny metal emblems from Ebay that at one point considered placing just the leaper portion on upper face of clock, but seemed too much effort to disassemble
