Could the two pulleys be in the wrong position looking at your first photo the idler pulley near the supercharger has ribs on the outside of it, but on the other photo posted by the other member, those ribs seem to be on the lower pulley

another thing to look at is to make sure the belt is not riding on the edge of a pulley like on the crank. It looks like there’s extra space next to the belt down on the crank.

some of these for whatever reason came with a smooth pulley it looks like it has ribs but its just from the belt marks. . I am going to swap it out, before I swapped the 2 other pulleys they were smooth also. No there are no belts riding on the edge that was the first thing I looked for, There are no pulleys in the wrong place either. thanks for the reply

I guess my question is, does it run without noise or shredding the belt? you can check alignment with a laser if you wish. No pulley wobbles?

So there is some noise but I just figured that was from
reseating the pulley on the supercharger after having it straightened and rebuilt.

If all the pulleys are correct and riding correctly, the only possible answer is that the belt is too short.

One quick way to check for this is to loosen the tensioner and see where it’s positioned compared to the full range of movement. the tensioner with the belt installed should be midway between the maximum and minimum stops on the tensioner. If the belt is too short, it will be all the way near the minimum side.

there is still not enough information to guess/speculate over the web. OP is running a VelocityAP belt and I'm guessing has an aftermarket pulley.

The 1438 belt is not OEM length, none of them are. If the belt is wrong and pulleys are all OEM including crank and supercharger, then I'd say that's a likely cause. No idea though.

For individual pulley noise get a stethoscope and confirm none of them are bad. That part is a 5 minute job.

SLIGHT UPDATE ive installed a new belt tensioner. It seemed like a brand new aftermarket one, but once I got I realized they had slightly milled off 2 spots on the surface removing something. I laid it down next ot my old one and it was a brand new JLR one. They basically removed the Jaguar and land rover names. So im not sure if it was ones the factory didnt buy or they are selling factory B grade or what but it seemed perfect to me and all the other engravings and stampings were correct. Im putting the belt on today however I think that Ill likely order the longer one from VAP bc they realized their older belts were a bit too short. I am waiting on a response from them now actually. the belt im running is the VAP 8DPK1461 and the one they have labeled "long" belt is 8DPK1470. so we will see. thanks all !!

So, you are not running with original pulleys? And you wonder why the belt don´t sit correctly? Do you undestand that when you change pulley(s) you have to change belt too for changed route distance? (i think you do now)

Yes I realize that it only makes sense. I am not completely dumb I changed pulleys and ran the belt that VAP sent me. I pulled the other tensioner off and it had lost a ton of pressure I could move it with my own strength relatively easily. however, the new one I could barely budge it.

FINAL UPDATE once I installed the new tensioner I put the old belt back on which is a good 9mm and 24mm shorter than their other belts VAP sells now. But now with new tensioner with its new spring strength it is holding it away slightly. about half the width of a finger or more. I am going to go ahead and get the belt thats 9mm longer i believe that should take care of that. Anyways hope this thread helps others in the process.

I would also be worried about that plastic nipple going into the water pump. It looks like someone installed something crooked, which is putting a lot of pressure on that plastic nipple. It could break off over time and ruin your day.

Good catch! I missed that in the very first photo. You can see it's at an angle and not seating flush.

It’s funny you say that I just made a post about that. I’ve since changed it to a brass nipple and it’s seated flush and still leaking. That was an older photo. Thoughts ? Could it have messed something up with being at an angle like that for a period of time?
