Default Early service interval

Car XJ supersport 5.0 SC.

Question my service required message said service needed in 1300 km, I barely drove 20 km, then it said in 750 km, same thing drove another 20 km, then it went down to 250 km, now after putting another 20 km in, it says service required.

I did an oil change like 3 months ago and have barely used the car, it still had the same gas form my last fill up in total i haven't driven more than 400 km.

When I got the car the service required message was on, so I did the oil change and air filters, used SDD to reset the service message.

My guess is that it's date based so probably the service message was on for some time when i got the car.

Eh, I think it resets every 10-11K miles. Try a total vehicle reset in SDD, sometimes that works out weird kinks. How's the health of your battery?

Battery is ok, I hooked everything up and did a service reset again the message is gone.

I strongly believe its date based, in my xfr the message comes up every year at the same month.

So my guess is that the message was on for quite some time when i got the car.

In the XJ owners manual they state it's time and distance. But as usual no indication of how long a time or how much distance is needed to turn the service indicator on?
Anyone know? It does seem to be a year or so on my car?
