Typically, the rare false beeps are from nearby airbrakes. The car has been used in a mix of big city and rural areas. It makes no sense to me why Jag changed the park assist from always on in the X350's to having to be manually enabled on the X351's, and trips me up when I hop in an X351.
They don't have to be manually enabled; but they can be manually enabled. The auto-function of them puts them on when I need them I seldomly have to manually activate them.

I think we have a difference of opinion when the front sensors should come on. On the X350's, they are automatically on when driving forward at roughly 5MPH or less towards an obstruction. In this same situation, the X351 sensors are off, unless you remember to manually reach up and turn them on. I find it annoying to have to remember to turn on park assist in such situations on the X351. Far prefer the X350 method.

On the X351 they do come on automatically (front and rear) when you put it in reverse. They then turn off when you exceed I think 5mph. This covers about 95% of when I need it. Other than that, yes I do hit the button.

I think it is this way due to the amount of sensors on the car. If I was in traffic and it was on, I think the side sensors would pick up cars around me all the time. Where are the sensors on the X350? Are there side sensors?

I think also they might interfere with the blind spot monitors. Does the X350 have blind-spot sensors?

I would love side sensors so as to not scuff the rims.

I can (sadly) attest that the side-sensors do not guard against curb rash on the wheels.

The X350 park assist sensors are in the same locations and have the same coverage as the X351. Only once or twice in ~13 years have I had another car come close enough to set off the front or rear park assist sensors - far too close for comfort and the warnings have been quite welcomed.

The X350's do not have blind spot monitors. I'm not sure how blind spot monitors can interfere with park assist. Different sensors sensing somewhat different needs.

No clue then but I assume Jaguar did not change it (and leave it changed) because less customers liked the new setup. I am happy with it the way it is as I think most X351 drivers are. Although I do acknowledge that some people will find something to complain about with just about everything in life.

One more note the X351 when the sensors are on the display changes to show what sensors and to what extent each one is triggered.

I think that's pretty standard operating procedure... especially among luxury cars.

Can't have anything to do with the blind spot stuff?

My wife has a 2013 MKS with both and the front park sensors are always on just like ALL the other cars on the road.

It's just a weird and awkward setup in the XJ.

Having owned two Jaguars now, I've come to believe they over-complicate things sometimes just for the sake of being "different". lol

Never had an X350 so don't have a clue. I was referring to "non-Jaguar" luxury cars.
