Front Sunshade Stuck & Noisy

Front Sunshade Stuck & Noisy
On a 2011 XJL with 40k miles, the front sunshade is having issues. It has not been used in a long long time. Went to open it, it started to open, but after a few inches got stuck - motor continued to try, but it wouldn't move and was making a grinding noise.
I tried the 45 second reset, it didn't fix it. When it's trying to open, if I help it with a little bit of manual pressure, I was able to get it to open. But, it wouldn't close after.
Given that the 45 second instructions I read here said it should be fully closed first, I slide it all the way closed manually (trying to be as gentle as I could be) and once it was closed all the way, tried the 45 second reset again. Problem persisted (only slight movement, maybe an inch opening then motor continues to try to open but it won't go).
Rear shade will open/close fine. Sunroof in front will tilt, open and close normally. (Which is helpful for manually closing the shade.)
I assume there is too much tension on the shade and the motor is designed not to pull it too hard, just not sure if that's the problem or something else. And, if that is the problem how to trouble shoot and fix it (hopefully without a costly dealership repair).
I'm new to this forum and thank you in advance for your responses.

Quote from RoonieQ's 10/16/16 post if it helps...
This exact issue and symptoms happened to me recently; luckily repaired while still under warranty so I am unable to attest to cost.
Service note indicates the following:
"Drop headliner and check both motors. Found front blind motor binding causing front blind failure. Install new front blind motor and clips, recheck after roof headliner install. Both blinds working normal."
Three parts are listed on the work order:
1- C2D23452 - KIT-CASTING SERV
2- C2D30281 - BLOCK-SLIDING
2- C2D30280 - BLOCK-SLIDING
REPAIR CODE:
761439 ROOF PANEL FRONT BLIND MOTOR AND CASING - RENEW 549 WJ 1.70

The same problem happened again with grinding noises and blind getting stuck just over a year later from my original post. however, my Indi informed me that the runner bars needed replacing with a updated version with the gears and blocks. This job was done and have been working fine since. Over 3 years now.
