Default Front upper shock mounts.

My car has developed a groan squeak on the front suspension left side. I see the upper mount as part number * Jaguar sells this separate,

C2D51875

but there is also a donut bushing, yellow? Question is does this typically fail? Seems like a stationary part.

ebay has knock off kits that includes this bushing and the seat isolator and the mount. But not sure I trust the longevity. Is the mount what typically fails and collapses or does the yellow donut also fails?

The mount itself fails over time, usually not the yellow donut. DO NOT waste your time and money on the cheap eBay aftermarket ones. I did, and the passenger side began falling apart within weeks, the driver side lasted only about 9 months of very little actual driving. Just get them from the dealership and be done with it.

Thank you for the quick response, I want to do the upper control arms to while in there the yellow bushing is quite expensive for what it is. Rather spend it on the upper arms.

That yellow donut does get well-flattened over time with age so consider replacing it if your car is high-mileage.

I tore into it. I think the rattle I’ve been chasing has been fount the right side upper control arm, the joint is loose and rattles in the it’s ball socket. Gosh I had done away bar bushings chasing this rattle. And banana arms also thinking that was the culprit. When up in the air there is no movement but once separated from the spindle you can inspect the ball joint. The left side appears to be ok but want to also replace it. But I think the rear nut is under plastic covers and not easy to access? I’m going to start taking the wiper cowl covers. But not happy about the lack of foresight to replace these.

The shocks and springs are out too but the compressors are too bulky to fit between the coils. Going to try another place for renting them and finally harbor freight for something that fits. These two things halted my progress.

The squawk noise is likely from the upper mounts as in the thread but mine are centered. Going to replace them anyways. When diagnosing the squawk I leaned on the front radiator support to replicate and it made the noise. So I’m confident is upper front suspension related. I should have gotten the yellow isolators. The exposed parts are brown and hardly yellow.

Did the left side. PITA, wipers and cowl cover needs to come off and three bolts keeping the plastic apron surrounding the engine. I was able to move it just enough as a unit to use an open end 17MM on the arm nut. Coolant bottle was already moved for the shock removal.

I also get this loose feeling thud when I step on the brakes. Typically the banana arms tend to cause this, are these gone already? they hardly have more then 10k on them. Leamforder I believe they were, not liquid filled like factory.

Getting there

I was able to use these, to remove the springs, but the yellow foam isolators are toast and stuck on the top hat. So you should replace it. Now going to see if the local jag place has it.
