Angry Hand brake problem. Code error: U0415

Hy. I have a Jaguar Xj , 2010 year with a big problem. I don't know how i can resolve this.

When we do a reset from the tester, the handbrake goes down and up once only then the error reappears.

BEST REGARDS!

Not sure, haven’t had this code personally.

Perhaps related however is a TSB stating the parking brake return spring can get old and require replacement. If it goes bad presumably the parking brake won’t retract properly. Perhaps this could set the code. I’ll post the TSB when I get back to my computer. Good news is the springs are dirt cheap.

All the best.

The rear disk and pads are used for both regular braking and for the parking brake; they are the same. When you apply the parking brake, a cable is pulled to apply the brakes. When you press the brake pedal, pressure from the brake fluid applies the brake. But the pads and rotor used are the same.

Not sure what the picture is showing. I’d have to pull off my wheel to compare.

Did you you say you tried to reset the parking brake already? You can do it with certain scan tools or by disconnecting the battery for 20-30 seconds. Though disconnecting the battery will also require manual reset of the trunk and window positions.

Edit: Is there any brake pad material left? For the rear brakes you should be able to easily see the brake pad and how much material is left. Not sure if your camera angle is throwing me off, but I don’t see any brake pad in your picture.

I replaced it with a new senzor! I reset it from tester but don't work! My error is still here and my parking brake don't work. I don't understand which is the problem.

You look like your brake pads are completely worn/gone. I would recommend you buy new pads at a minimum. You may also need new rear rotors. Fix the brake pads and your parking brake issue should go away.

Resolved!

The wires under the car from the electric parking brake were broken. Someone had tried to repair under it and it seems that he had cut the wires.

Thank's everyone!

The wires have corrosion going back under the insulation. When you repair it skim back the insulation so your past the corroded wire portion. The wires look to be crushed and pinched rather than cut?
Can you find anything that could have have caused the damage?

Someone (the former owner took her to the service) worked under it with a lever and grabbed and pressed them. Corrosion was a lot on the wire and I shortened and lengthened some wires. The electric brake worked immediately. We bought it with this defect.
