There simply aren't that many n/a 5.0 v8 petrol XJs in the UK. The vast majority of the X351s sold in the UK are 3.0 Diesels.

(I don't think that cross-advertising is disallowed - there is a more "English-centric" XJ forum at https://www.jaguarforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=97)

Buy it you won't regret it I have one with 130000 miles on the clock and runs as sweet as a new one I do all my one work on it and apart from the usual things ie brake pads. just make sure you change the oil every 6 months regardless of mileage next one for me is the 575 when I can afford one when you go to look at it try and go before they start it so you can listen for the timing chain to see if it makes any sound on start up if it does it need changing with the guides and tensioner

Thanks that's a little more reassuring yours is the first iv heard of over 100k i do recall seeing somthing about chain stretch and worn guides but I'd say the guides are a serviceable item anyways due to them been plastic also water pumps leaking but that's now revised with newer pumps and that's it I'd do most of the work my self that's possible anyways as for servicing I'd do it yearly but that's just becase I only do about 6k a year anyways the oil wont perish in 6 months /3k miles

Well for me ( I have a 2014 XJR) the real key is can you DIY the repairs and maintenance?
They are complicated and expensive cars and they are not cheap to repair. But mine has been extremely reliable.

This forum is the real difference between me keeping it or getting a more common car.
As always the newer and lower the miles the better the car.

I had a 100K-6 year CPO warranty and only used it once before I ran out based on time.
I would also listen about the oil change interval. I don't agree with Jaguar on the 16K or 1 a year oil changes.
Do it as posted above.

cheers I understand about the cost of repairs ect that's fine you expect it with cars of this nature I just dont want to be getting a car that's at the end of its life and throw good money after bad and right well I'll keep the oil changes in mind and as for repairs I can do most things my self I had a bmw car before last for a few years and that never went to the garage once did all suspension throttle body discs and pads clutch ect so I'm quite compatent when it comes to repairs so that's not an issue either my main worry was just the engine milage as I stated iv seen non over 100k but there again there isent many about so it's hard to get a scale of how long they will go for

Hi Markus. The 3-litre diesel is the same engine that went into the XF-S (X250 & X-260). I had an XF-S with 194,000 miles on it when an Audi decided to write it off 2 years ago. And the engine was still running like a well-oiled sewing machine!
I can't comment on the petrol engines except what I read on UK forums and the timing chains tensioners seem to be mentioned quite often. But my advice would be to ensure a full service history and keep it serviced (+ change the oil yourself half way betweeen services).

I think if you did all that work to your BMW at home you won't have any trouble doing the same with your XJ. I would not be too concerned about the mileage since you have service history.
Hope you report back on what you decided!

The engines are good for many miles if taken care off. Pretty fast to! I have had mine to 180 mph at least 6-8 times. Smooth as glass at speed.

Have you ever considered experimenting with punctuation?
