Default Jackie is dead, got new 2016 XJL

Well all, the day came where Jackie gave her life to keep me safe. Ended up totalling my 2012 XJ. So, I have been on a search for the last few weeks for a new XJ. Well, today I found it. I got my hands on a 2016 XJL in gray with the Portfolio trim. It is AWD and had the 3.0L. Not necessarily my first choice in motors, but, right now, it was about all I could find without stepping up to a 2019 Collection XJL. (it was really tempting though). Now sure what this car's name is going to be. As it gets light out and I can find a suitable spot to take pics, I will get pics taken. The one bonus, the place that did the inspection of the car found the water pump leaking and replaced it. So, that should be something that stays off of my list for awhile.

Too bad another one bites the dust!!
At least it was not a cooling system failure that destroyed it.

Lol so my first xjL was named Jack because I felt it was masculine black on black, chrome delete, black rims etc... But the one I got after is frost blue with ivory interior chrome rims and really pretty, and her name is JacquelineAka Jackie for short

Thermo, unfortunate the reason, but congrats on moving up and being lucky to find one so quickly. Interesting how we figure the gender of our cars. I recall my first, the old XJ8, instantly struck me that she was "soft and curvy".

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but glad to hear you're OK. Nigel and I hope to see you and "Madame X" on the road sometime. Looks like several Maryland and NVA subscribers on this forum. Maybe a lunch sometime?

Bernie, with the summer coming up, I see 1 of 2 options (both I have helped organize in the past). We can 1) plan a day to "take over" the Cars and Coffee there in Fairfax and then afterwards find a restaurant to all sit down and continue talking cars over lunch. Option 2 is to find a local park or something, we all meet there and do a summer cookout (unless someone is willing to let us use their property for this). Then we all bring a dish and pass it around. I can get my hands on some quality meat for a decent price complements of the commissary. I have a feeling that either option is going to be on the more northern end of town (ie, DC) as this is where most of the members reside. So, if we plan a park thing, I would need some help with someone finding a park as I am at the southern end of the state and I don't know the parks in the area. We used to do this sort of thing with the Ford Truck club and it was always a good time.

All, looking to do a get together. i am going to create a new posting over in the Mid-Atlantic Region section that will have a lot more details about a get together. If you are interested, follow the link that I am going to add to this to let us know you are interested. Going to be a little wide open at the moment and then narrow down as we get closer. Give the members a chance to pipe in and get a say in what is going on.

Chris, we're very sorry to hear about your situation. We went through the same scenario, several years ago, when my wife got hit from behind, in her '12 XJ-L. You have our condolences, but are glad to hear that you're OK.

EDIT...I forgot to add, it's a shame that Jaguar is no longer making new XJs, so you couldn't have gotten one of them.....

leadfoot4, i would have contemplated it had they gone with the Bernucci (SP?) drawing of that curvaceous "E-type" looking body that they had tempted us with. That body has me in wanting and pondering if they may use it for an all electric XJ. We'll see. I think the XJ is just plain dead and not coming back. Way of the crossover is among us and there isn't going to be much we can do about it.

I guess a bitter sweet moment! Cars are always not the same when they get in a heavy fender bender, let alone a write-off!
Also, thinking about it now, it's funny how we refer to cars, airplanes, boats/ships as 'feminine'...
