Default Jaguar XJ x351 converting to European

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this forum, I wanna say Hi to all of you at first
I just recently purchased a second hand XJL 5.0 Portfolio from the U.S.
I'd like to ask if anyone gone into the coding or programming of this car?
I want to be able to change the speedo from MPH to KMH and also wanna be able to use the navigation in Europe. Oh and the I wanna take of the speed limiter to 155 mph because in U.S. its limited somewhere around 120-130 mph.
I have red basically many useful information on this forum as well as on the U.K. forum but have not found anything like this conversion.
I know that the cluster can be switched to show digital numeric KMH but I wanted to reprogam the main speedometer as-well.
I dont know if I buy a Mongoose cable and the IDS software would I be able to program all thees.

Thanks

If no one has answered in nearly three years (from the date of the original post), it's unlikely anyone will.

With the cost of importing an XJ to Europe I would think it would be much cheaper to just buy one over there?

It's true for now. But back in 2014 it was a different story.
Still, I have never found out if the conversion was possible or not.

Anything is possible if you want to throw enough money and labor into it; but then, who wants to completely rebuild a car?

Welcome (back) to the forum Morrisadam,

I can't envisage a situation where a dealer would ever need to do this conversion so it is not surprising you have found no information.

Unlike earlier models, the X351 5.0 Litre does not have different market specific Instrument Packs or ECM's listed in JEPC although there are a number of changes for each of these dependent on VIN range. The N/A and S/C models also have different ECM's.

The components are shown as 'dealer configuration' which suggests a Mongoose could be used to switch the programmed setup. Brave move - even with a genuine Drew Technologies cable.

Be interesting to see what happened with a straight swap to a European programmed ECM if you could get your hands on one from the same VIN range .......

Graham

Yes it's possible to change the odometer from miles to kilometers, and to load European maps, but it's not a DIY thing and the dealers would be prohibited from doing it too.

There may be a requirement for one or two cars. So who's going to know? Contact Jaguar and pay their rates.

Just want to give an update on this topic!
YES it is possible to switch the speedometer from MPH to KPH
YES it is possible to switch from USA to Europe radio frequencies
YES it is possible to swittch the Navi from USA to Europe.
You will need SDD with unlocked engineering mode and CCF editor! You must also have a tool that supports MULTI CAN. The Mongoose would NOT WORK!
VXDIAG Nano VCX WILL Work!

Hi All,

I'm having the same, an USA XJ-L 5.0 Sc and want also a couple of things changed to EU
For example:
- Sat Nav
- Speedometer
- DVD ( I think it isn't a regio free version)
All the rest is working fine.
Anyone know something about the DVD?

And where to buy a"VXDIAG Nano VCX"?

Regards Bas

I don't know if its much of a revive but I'm facing the same issue as the people before me. I am importing a 2019 XJL from the US and would like to adjust everything so far said, as well as make the adjustments in order to meet EU regulation.
I know the older (pre-2017) models used SDD, but the newer models use Pathfinder in order to edit the ccf file.
Does anyone have experience with modifying ccf or provides such a service in Europe? if so I would appreciate the help and would be willing to do a road trip in order to fix these issues.

If you search in my posts, I have posted how to convert the speedometer from KPH to MPH and vice versa.

I saw your post, does this apply to a 2019 model? As far as I know, models post-2017 use Pathfinder and the process seems to be different to SDD.
