Just hit 35,000 miles.
I have 2011 Jaguar XJ Super Sport. Its a bit over 35,000 miles and just got it back for the yearly check up.
As for history: It had the knocking sound in the sunroof- easy fix.
A sensor when bad in the exhaust system - easy fix.
Rubber coming off rear window into trunk-easy fix.
Every once in a while, when it shifted I would hear a low but very fast rattle.
This went on for a few years. Was not effecting the performance but was a pain in the ***. I reported it again and found that Jaguar had a memo to change the leakage and the round shifter.- not an easy fix but fixed. (no change)
That's the end of the history.
The car runs better now @ 35,000 miles then it ever did.
Performance - it is very underrated.
I dove from Gettysburg Pa to Springfield Ill and it was nothing but outstanding. I was sorry the trip ended. They say others have better performance, that maybe true but I don't know how.
For the first time we took the extended protection plan. Generally when thing go this well something happens and I would hate to be stuck in some little town off 95 or 81.
Not that it needed it and I would hate to fool with something that is working so well, but considering kicking it up to 575 or 600hp ---what ever they can get out of it.
PS - the loaner was the XE. A very nice little car. I live in the mountains and it ran the roads like a true sports car ....I am impressed.

Glad your sun-roof knocking was an easy fix, For many owners it has been a far from easy fix and many people have traded-in and gone to other makes over it. Ho Jaguar could allow this fault to go out on their top model is a puzzle to me. Did they assume all XJ owners are old and hence deaf ?
Roof knocks-- 1st fix lasted about a year. Then slowly I could hear it returning
Always going up drive way-- up and turning to the right.
The 2nd fix is on about 2 years now.
What surprised me was how fast they found it. Knocks can take days to trace down. This before I knew everyone was having the same problem.
But the biggest surprise is the oil. Unless the display is lying to me these cars don't burn a drop of oil. I keep a close watch. My next concern is my original battery. It passes the test but low voltage will give problem that can drive a person nuts. So even with a passing test not all will be care free. I will most likely replace it before the summer.
Please note: Super Sport oil can only be found at Jaguar dealers - I carry 2 Qts just in case. But all in all - knowing the troubles these high end cars can have, maintenance for me has been outstanding the passed 5 years and the extended warranty give peace of mind. If you go for it -be careful mine cost $3000 from the dealer. I did receive offer in the mail and when I called they wanted $9000. rip off.
