Default Live traffic 3G

Great forums, helped me decide on a 2016 XJL and really enjoying it, have the remote start working, but would love live traffic data to inform the directions and offer re-routes during congestion.

There's no SIM card in the slot yet. I'm able to connect to wifi from the car but logging in to the nav account from the car produces the 'try it later' error.

With the end of 3G data, will the live traffic functionality work if I insert an AT&T compatible SIM and connect the car data subscription?

Would be great if I could just use my iphone 12's hotspot wifi to power the traffic data, but when I use the USB I get the 'disconnect, try again' error

Carplay would solve all of it, but from what I read here no Carplay on an 8" screen so out of luck there. That's at odds with the original bulletin showing VINs of my range OK for the Smartphone pack and having the 19B update on my vehicle.

Any further insight appreciated before i try a dealer or indie - the various threads have been conflicting.

I have the same model year XJL as you. I’ve never experienced live traffic in my vehicle. My car had been to the dealer several times with everything like the IMC etc replaced. The shop foreman at my local dealer said he has seen traffic before in my car. I have not though. He said through all the updates and new modules it must’ve gotten lost somewhere. I gave up on it.

you should update the Incontrol to another version. I’m in the Atlanta(US) area. I had that version then I was notified of a update from Jag Customer Service. That still didn’t work for my traffic either. My 3G in my vehicle still works.

Thanks - sorry to hear that.

Taking it in for a 2nd fob programming will post back if I learn anything new and ask for them to provide a SIM - but if others know otherwise am all ears!

I have used the live traffic on my 2016 and it worked fine.
I had the AT&T SIM before the end of 3G.
I do not think live traffic will work w/or w/o the AT&T SIM.
I also thought I was missing the AT&T SIM but if you simply call AT&T Connected Car @ 866-595-0010 they will tell you.

Here is a better idea of what should work/not work.

interesting…my SIM comes from Jaguar not AT&T. Could that be the reason why my traffic wasn’t working?🤔
