Default Mileage losses in Dynamic Mode 3.0 AWD

In my inspirational driving this week in Dynamic Mode, I was wondering if anyone has consistently left their daily driver in Dynamic to observe average mileage loss.

I drive a 3.0 SC AWD every day and observe average fuel economy at 20.5 mpg in Normal Mode. What differences have you observed?

Can't help but again I am amazed at the gas mileage of my VAP tuned XJR. I make about 620 HP and drive the car hard. In town I average 22+ mpg! My last big highway trip I got 28 mpg with a 78 mph average that included gas stops! After the tune the lowest I have ever got was around 19 mpg during some high speed races.

I don't leave it in Dynamic all the time as sometimes it's so nice to cruise smoothly along. That's the real magic of my XJR. A total beast when I want it to be and a wonderful smooth and quiet luxury car if I am just puttering along.

So I’m needing to do a bit of research. As I drive a Base level XJ 3.0 AWD, there’s likely not a VAP tube available. What are the basics of this tune and wonder why the mileage is 10% better?

Yes VAP has an extensive line of hot rod parts for the SC V-6. Just depends on far you want to take it?
E30 tunes? Upper and lower pullies? Transmission tune and engine tune? The V-8 even has a larger SC option out now. That TVS2300 would be a bad *** upgrade for sure!

Can't answer why the better mileage just that I was surprised as that was not an advertised benefit and I NEVER expect improved gas mileage when doing modifications. So a very pleasant surprise for sure!

It's amazing how Jaguar was able to step up the power in these engines with so little changes. The tune is the major difference.

There’s no reason for Dynamic mode to reduce fuel mileage, except that it tend to make your right foot heavier. 🏎️
