Default First DTCs Logged!!

I already have on my shelf all the aluminum pipes available---bought them in Florida last winter--and I have acquired all the seals and o rings from Jaguar to install them. I am in no hurry to install them as the previous owner had Jaguar install new versions of the plastic pipes. I monitor coolant level every time I use the car and I continuously monitor coolant temp, oil temp and battery voltage as have on my previous 2012 XF.

The car will be down all winter to do lubricant changes, brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, work on grounds and the main power cable to the starter motor which has bad looking corrosion at the joining terminal. I plan to work on the car instead of going to Florida!

I also found out from my local Jaguar shop that they replaced the snout of the supercharger about 25kmiles ago and it is still very quiet.

I also had my first DTCs appear yesterday. P00BE-00 MAF B circuit air flow too low and P115D-00 Mass airflow circuit offset. There were no really noticeable effects driving at normal speeds just the orange engine symbol. So I spent an hour this morning pulling the MAF sensors and the intake tube to the throttle body and cleaned them with MAF cleaner and compressed air.
Cleared the codes and the car seems happy.

Got a picture or diagram of where it is?

Default Checking Under The White Ghost

Spent a couple of hours under the car today and removed the covers on the passenger side. Mainly interested in oil leaks, oil, coolant and power lines. So the good news is no oil leaks anywhere, no coolant leaks anywhere. The not so good news is corrosion on the terminals of the powerline connector and starter motor terminals. Found early enough to fix tomorrow. Pictures are attached.

Still making progress, all the terminals are cleaned up and protected with a surface coat of nickel based grease. The power steering fluid has been replaced with Mobil Multi-Vehicle semi synthetic Mercon 3 and tomorrow the differential oil will be changed using Valvoline Advanced 75W90 full synthetic. Also took a look at the AC system which was running with only 0.4ibs of refrigerant. After evacuating the refrigerant, the system held vacuum of -30in Hg for 30 minutes and then was recharged with 900grams of R134a. Then it will be ready for our Annual Leaf Run around cottage country this week end.

That's in the winter downtime program but I haven't really done anything yet---I was planning to get the ZF transmission fluid from Rock auto but it seems to have disappeared from their catalogue. However the transmission is working very smoothly and is noticeably smoother than the ZF6 speed and the fuel economy with rational driving is better than the 2012 XF. The real problem is remaining rational!

Just as a note it was a real pain changing the e-diff oil compared to the the 2012XF,but no metal particles on the drain plug just a little black sludge.

Default Engine Grounds

I decided to do the engine grounds this afternoon. So far I have found 2 sets, the one on the passenger side front has 5 conductors on 2 terminals. It is located just below the passenger side air filter box and is shown in the attached pic after cleaning but before tightening.. You can see that I removed the fender liner so I could lubricate the threads of the 6mm steel ground stud before I attempted to remove it. The second one is located on the drivers side in a similar position just below the drivers side air filter box.

Thumbs up

In response to an earlier post - I have the Foxwell 510 also - has done the job on my 2011 XJL 3.0D to date. Will have to get SDD one day I guess.

Lovely thread BTW - I am lusting after the 5.0 Supercharged. Not many in New Zealand, but I'm patient (and my wife is not yet onboard :-))

Great pictures and did Jaguar finally go to bolts or are they still studs? Studs did not break? They look good and solid.
I did not even know where they were on the car either.

In the engine compartment I have found two steel bolts which thread into steel inserts and then there is the negatiive steel stud on the passenger side strut tower.
In the trunk all the ground points are aluminum studs which are similar to the X350 and X358 cars. They look fragile but in my car are in good shape. There is no evidence of water or dampness in the trunk.
