Default Fault Code - Transmission Control Module - 2012 Jaguar XJL Supersport x351

I drove about 30 minutes with no problems. I park for 2 hours and when I turn it on, the check engine light stayed on. I have a DTC reader and it reads, "TCM - Transmission control module [$07E9]".

The car shifts fine, no degradation in performance as I drove it back home.

Where is the module located?
Is it a DIY fix?
What steps would you take to diagnosis?
Can I clear the code? (I couldn't find a way to clear).

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all.

Do you have 6-speed or 8-speed version?
Have you noted transmission oil leak on rear side of transmission?

Edit- Sorry: As you have 2012 it must be 6-speed version. Check possible oil leak on cable harmness connector on rear of the transmission. Oil leak there can cause weird issues.
Also the mechatronic "sleeves" can go hard or crack, spesially if wrong oils are used. I recommend to do service with new sleeves, new oil/filter and connector sleeve. Full kit are available from ZF (OEM) with reasonable price and its full DIY. (kit came with good instructions and youtube have lot of videos, exsample this:

Thank you for this. No leaks whatsoever. It's just odd that I drove and then the light stayed on after parking. And driving home there was no difference in shifting. Do you know the exact part(s) to fix this?

No idea. The fault code is general code from transmission, what can come various reasons. The ZF HP6 series (and newer HP8) are one of the best trannys used in very high numbers by many vehicle manufacturers and most of the issues are low fluid pressures by either sleeves leaking or wrong fluids used. Maybe when stopped with everything hot the oil pressure is detected too low and code is given, even when you start driving and oil is cooled down by heat exhanger you dont encounter any other issues. At least yet.
If you don´t know when the oils have been changed or what oils used, i would get an ZF HP6 full service kit and go with that if the issue go away.
Check exsample of full ZF service kit for HP6 tranny here: https://www.gearboxoils.com/product/...dapter-set-7l/
Many shops sell same kit and you propably found one from autopart shop near you.

That doesn't show any fault codes.

It's just saying the engine module (proper name PCM) is at the stated address (on the CAN bus) and the TCM is at the other address.

TBH I hate tools which are unclear!

(The TCM is inside the trans. It seems happy or ... maybe is.)

hmm... maybe your device wants you to select one of those modules and then it will do something (read data? read codes?).

I think you need a better scanner. Jaguar SDD is probably needed to get all the codes.

That looks like a Foxwell NT510 Elite. If he has the LandroverJaguar software package it will do what is needed.

I have taken a few screen shots of my Foxwell NT510 Elite connected to my 2014 XJL 5.0 and basically shows the path to diagnose anything (almost).
Screen come up when connected to car diagnostic connector Click on Landrover

Then you have a choice of a Quick Scan of the vehicle or you can choose to scan a specific system. For this sample I chose Quick Scan
