Talking New XJL SC

Had a four hour drive back from Dallas yesterday. Car is amazing. So far no rattles or squeaks thank god. Did get Park Place to print out a completed list of the TSBs. They were very cooperative.

Navigation in Dallas was hopeless. The Plano/Allen/McKinney corridor of 75 is hopelessly out of date. Was very pleased I could stream Internet radio and it might make the my usual Sirius subscription needless. Apparently my iPhone has to be cabled to get song info but it streams flawlessly over BT regardless.

The only thing we have not figured out is why I don't have nav turns on my virtual display. It seems like I read that is turned off and on by the technician. Can someone confirm this? I personally like to have the running lights on so I had them do that.

A lovely car so far and I am pleased. BTW, did you all choose the dealer paint stuff? I had Invisi-shield applied to the front and mirrors. As far as I know its the only thing that really works. And thankfully it was there because the car was covered in bugs by the time I got home.

In the Uk handbook Navigation section it says the following that I have copied and pasted for you, try it and see if it works for you over there, best of luck and enjoy your new car, I have had mine 3 months now and had 3800 wonderful driving miles so far.

TURN-BY-TURN NAVIGATION
Turn-by-turn navigation guidance (displayed in
the message centre) can be turned on or off as
follows:

From the main navigation menu, select
Nav
Setup

, then select User Settings.
Scroll through the user settings list until the
Message centre guidance

band is displayed.
Touch the band to select/deselect the feature.
The band is highlighted when message centre
guidance is enabled.

Thanks roviw. Found it.

I actually tried the pleasant English female voice but found the system refused to take an address. Did all other functions. Very odd.

Thanks for your help.

Enjoy your new ride. This really is a lot of car for the money. What color combo did you get?

Originally thought I wanted Caviar with Cashew Truffle. Then Botanical Green with the same (was offered a good deal in Atlanta on a demo but I was already committed).

But kept coming back to the car in white. Never owned a white car and thought it looked great so wound up with a white with ivory and truffle. Had the lighted treadplates put in and the trunk plate. And a Invisishield (Clear bra). Windows tinted though with a light interior the effect is marginal.

If I had been patient enough to order a car I would of probably gotten ACC and the heated windshield though I have heard some folks complain about the lines.

And if I am sure it will not severely effect the warranty I am going to try and boost it up a bit. I think 550 HP is very easily doable. And perhaps the FLiR aftermarket nightvision camera. lol

Oh if any moderators are reading this I suggest you look into Tapatalk mobile forums. It makes using the forum dead easy on an iPhone or mobile device and allows the easy upload of photos.

Brilliant that you found the information ok.
Great choice of colours as well.
I went for claret red with the truffle and cashew inside. Really pleased with the car and have covered 3800 miles so far.
Enjoy your car.

Got to unwind it this afternoon out on some roads by the lake.

Amazing car. First time for S mode and the paddle shifters.

I can see why some of you notice any unwanted mechanical noise. The car is whisper quiet even at high RPM. Just the sound of tires on pavement. And a little music. lol

Definitely a shapeshifter. Sedate sedan or stealthy beast. Big fun.

And the navigation is pretty useless. Knew when I was home but not any roads to get there. Lol

It's a silly name I know. lol

And I resented having to get a separate app at first for a forum but it is really amazing and so well organized. Plus easy pic upload.
