Default Newbie headlight question.

Just picked up my 1st Jag and dream car on Monday. On a 2013 XJ the headlight appears to have 3 lights. The led's that run under the bottom, the outside lens that is the high / low beam, and then an inside light that looks like a disc of led's. What is this inside light and how do you turn them on? I can't find anything in the manual and the fog light button only operates the rear lights.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum cougarweeds,

Is your vehicle fitted with AFS (Adaptive Front Lighting System)? If so you could be looking at the cornering lamps which are not driver switchable. I have these on my XK and they are very useful.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see.

In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Thanks Graham. I don't believe I have that feature as I haven't noticed the beams moving with the steering wheel. I assume the lens is still in the fixture even if the feature isn't active.

That round array of led's inboard from the headlights are the directional signals. While they look clear, they flash amber when you activate the turn signal. They are super intense. Now on to more difficult features like mastering the voice control system or NAV. Enjoy your car.

Doh! Thanks Ed, that was it.
I've had voice control on my last two cars and only used the phone features. I've found that although cool ideas, pushing the buttons is quicker.

It is my experience that the LEDs are both turn lights and the high beams.

Being a North Carolina resident myself, I can understand why you don't know what these lights are. They are called "turn signal lamps", and even though we residents of North Carolina never use them (one reason we rank seventh in the nation for poorest drivers) those with higher intelligence and driving skills use them regularly in the civilized, non-retarded parts of the world,

Sorry, but (at least on my UK 2011 car), this isn't right.

The inner disc of LEDs is the turn signal. Headlamps are a single bi-xenon bulb on each side that is adjusted for main/dipped beam. In the corner is a directional lamp that illuminates at low speed when cornering/signalling.

I don't like the daylights of my JAG - they are hardly visible during the day...
