Default No beeps when backing up....why? also need lowering springs

Hello again.....'17 xjl sc does not beep while backing up. Camera lines appear and track fine but w/ NO BEEPing. I've read and re-read the manual several times, followed the instructions(I think) but cannot get the back up camera to beep. On screen speaker appears and lites up but is X'd out and can't be changed. Not sure if i'm still missing something or there's a fault w/the car/camera system. Anyone have similar experience or advice?
Also looking to lower the car....a member here--CarbonXJL--advertised purpose built lowering springs a while back but I've been unable to contact him so any info re. CarbonXJL OR how to lower car(Arnott system?) an XJ351 will b helpful. As always, thanks!!

Marco,

Try backing up towards an object, as you get close turn the audio volume up on the dash control. This works for the Nav volume, it might work for the reverse warning too.

Like a warning to others that you're backing up?

No, the reverse sensors beep when you are close to something. As @wombat said, you can actually turn the beeping up and down while it is engages using the volume knob. It does have a minimum volume though, it is still audible when turned all the way down. There is a separate button to mute it entirely.

I know that Josh - I did not ask the original question.
I was asking the OP what they were expecting to hear a beep for.

I'm expecting car to beep as I get closer to an object while backing up as all my fairly recent cars have done. thi one doess not beep and it's not a volume button issue. Dealer THINKS forward alert sensor and/or wiring harness is bad(corrosion) and wants me to spend $1900 to test this theory. Dunno mechanics of the sensor system but doesn't make sense to me how faulty right front sensor/harness would affect rear sensor(s) which are the ones I assume would determine rear proximity while reversing. All these gadgets have simply made us weak and more dependent on tech.....I'm scared to back the D@#% car up.

Okay, I understand what beeping you're looking for now.
Failure of any one of the systems sensors will cause the whole system to deactivate.
You can just revert back to the way you backed-up prior to your cars having "all these gadgets" and use rear & side view mirrors. If your back-up camera is still working, you have the advantage of that gadget too.
Or you could just have a knowledgeable mechanic such as the dealership repair it.
But as far as the dealership saying they have an idea that it's a front sensor, that entails pulling the front bumper cover off & replacing a sensor.
The front bumper cover isn't too hard to remove - it's been described in other posts in this forum, but it does take their time & effort.

Do you get the yellow and then red bars in the screen? I only get beeps when those appear on the screen.

I do get the yellow lines and they track appropriately. However, no red bars and no beeps w/in 3 inches of garage.

No not the yellow lines that curve when you move the steering wheel. These are rectangular colored bars that appear as you move closer and closer to a barrier. Then at a certain distance the yellow turns to red. If those are not showing up that is a problem. Not sure what to look at?

There is a connector located in the left wheel well where the front parking aid sensors are connected. The connector (C11) is mounted to the back of the bumper. Remove the left front tire and wheel well arch to access the connector.
From there the signal follows into the Module-Parking Aid interface. In my car that connector was not fitted into the holder behind the bumper and was not fully seated and water got in there. It affected the front TPS sensors but also the front left proximity sensors. Remove the left front tire and wheel well arch to access the connector. See attached PDF

Perhaps this might be your problem as well. Best, Dave
