Hey everyone,
So I made the brilliant choice to fix my 2016 XJL on my own from a small fender bender. Brilliant is heavy on the sarcasm. Have zero auto repair, painting experience but figured what the hell Ill learn. So aside from a few minor whoops and redos I fixed the bumper and am in the middle of the paint part. Well I just got an email from the parts supplier i found in England that parts (C2D41726/29) Which are the L/R Chrome Surrounds on the bottom bumper. They have the Black mesh backing for them just not the Chrome Trim Surround itself. (see photo below) They said they talked to JAGUAR and the parts are on back order with no idea of when they will be available again do you guys have any special tips or places I should check for suppliers that might have these parts already in stock?
Get on EBay and search for front bumpers. Then E-mail the seller as he most likely also has those small parts but just has not made a separate listing for them.
Funny thing is when I look in the JEPC I don't see the chrome surround sold separate from the front bumper?
So a bit surprised Jaguar says they can get them?
I checked and that is the right part number so my JEPC must not show all the options available?
But at $135 each I for sure would beat the bushes for some used parts!!

Thanks! yeah I tried all the usual places eBay, random JLRNA dealers and ordered a bulk of my parts from Brit Car and it seems the only place other than JAGUAR dealers that end up not being able to order them is Alibaba.con which aside from being slightly sketchy I have to order a 20 piece min set for them to even sell them so I’m assuming they are making them to order. I actually had the blades on my car I just figured if I was doing the repairs I would upgrade to this style as I prefer the look of them compared to the blades.
On a 2016, the grills you show are made of two and/or three separate parts for each side - the chrome (or black) outer trim, the black (or chrome) mesh filler, and a black blanking piece at the rear of neither or the left hand only depending the engine fitted. Each part is ordered individually.
The chrome outer trims are the parts you have quoted:
C2D41729 LH
C2D41726 RH
The the black mesh fillers are (assuming no engine block heater):
C2D41722 LH
C2D41720 RH
The blanking piece is C2D41723 for the LH.
(The reason they are not in the EPC picture above is because that is the pre-2016MY front bumper.)
If Britcar have checked and the parts are on backorder then I believe them, but you could also check around a couple of other parts dealers to see if they can locate stock for you. David Manners and SNG Barratt are two to check with.
The black trims with black mesh are readily available on ebay - e.g. 133404180774 which is a good seller I have bought lots from in the past. I can't see any chrome trims on there atm (although my results are filtered to the UK market only).
If it helps with the searching, the chrome outer with black mesh was fitted to the XJR and Autobiography trims as standard (unless replaced by the black trim pack when ordering). Most (all?) other trims got black mesh with the J blades. From the EPC it is not clear if the mesh used with the J blades is the same or different to that used with the outer trim.
If you haven't done it before, I will warn you that getting those outer trims out without breaking any of the clips is a pain. You need to remove all the screws from the rear then simultaneously pull and slide them towards the centre of the bumper whilst releasing the friction clips at the rear. If you want to reuse the ones you remove make sure the front and back is immaculately clean and a little spray of lubricant to the friction clips helps.
