Remote Start / Climate not working
Hi guys, I’ve seen a few threads on this already, but I think my issue is slightly different, but apologies if I’m asking a question that’s already been discussed and I’m not finding it.
My remote start via the Jaguar App isn’t working for my XJ (2016). It has been working perfectly for over a year so it’s a new issue.
Other features within the app all work; I can lock / unlock the car through it, beep and flash, see my journeys and current status, fuel level etc.
For the past 2 weeks, when I send the command to start the engine and power on the climate, the car clicks to life, the blind spot monitor LED’s in the mirrors illuminate and then they go off and nothing happens. It’s as if the car is about the start but something tells it to cancel.
Battery status all seems fine and I have no issues starting the car normally (from inside it).
I have spoken to Jaguar support and they can’t provide an explanation. Subscription services are all in date and the car has an active data connection via the SIM card.
The app eventually times out and accepts defeat, and if it wasn’t for the fact that the car almost tries to start and the electrics power on, I’d say it was most definitely a server / communication issue, however the car is receiving the signal to start but it just won’t follow through with it…
If anyone else has experienced this or has the solution, I’d love to hear from you.
First world problem, I know - but as it’s getting colder, I’d love to be able to warm the car up while I’m getting ready to leave, like I used to be able to!
Thanks in advance!

Hi , if it were mine I would take the car into my nearest jaguar dealer and speak to someone on the service dept , most are helpful, And explain the problem . I would be surprised if they don't book your car in for examination if you were to get them to witness this first hand , and you are paying a subscription. could be a faulty module , but they have the diagnostics. Let us know how things pan out
OP,
I also own a 2016 XJ (mine is the XJL portfolio).
Do all 2016 XJ’s have remote start?
i’ve never seen that feature on my car and wouldn’t know how to even use it. Is There is a Phone app?
Thanks

Yes, there is a phone app. You can Google it and find a few videos to walk you through using it.
Here is a previous thread on it.

I am still confused. I read the previous thread mentioned above as well.
Where can I find this app on my phone?? How do I install it?
I am reading somewhere that you need "InControl remote premium" and that it is something I need to subscribe to? Is that accurate.
Are we sure that ALL 2016's have remote start capabilities?
Sorry for all of the questions....LOL!!!
