Default Removing Exterior B Pillar trim

I've searched but couldn't find a thread on the topic. I have to repaint my B-pillars (again) and I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the trim pieces. I want to weigh my options... making off the pillars or just remove them.

If you're talking about the gloss black applique panels on the doors, they will shatter into razor sharp pieces if you try to remove them. I replaced the ones on the rear doors a few years ago.

Search "x351 door applique panel replacement" for my write-up.

Aw man... seen someone remove the XF ones and thought these would be easy also. They're plastic.

Meanmugga,

To allay some of your fears, the new appliques were relatively cheap, and neither broke during fitment....and replacement was easy

Once they get (the appliques) old, they shatter into razor blades.

Might order some new ones just in case. I'm hoping they made changes to the plastic during the facelift.

You can also buff and polish them to restore them.

Thought about that as well. Doesn't last as long tho. I paint for the uv protection of the clear coat.

If I ever had to "restore" those I would consider vinyl wrap vs paint. Seems like less work, could be done in-situ, and easier to reapply.

Definitely an option. I've gone that route on my last vehicle... But living in Floroda aka The Sunshine State. It faded months later and cracked after some years in the heat. This was name brand wrap also.

Also...Athe reflection you get with a proper clear coat is unbeatable.
