How was the starter motor tested to determine it needed to be replaced?

In case you don't have the Workshop Manual for the X351, here is a link:

If you have a mobile Technician working on the vehicle, make sure they know how to correctly raise the vehicle so as to not cause the body to twist.

It would be helpful to have more details about the car: MY, engine fitted, RWD or AWD, number of kilometres/miles showing on the instrument cluster.

You can find jacking points from owners handbook.
It will be quite tough job without lift, but possible. You have right hand driven car? You propably need to disconnect the steering shaft from steering rack to have enough room for starter to come out?
Have you tryed to give an booster for the battery on trunk?

Not sure about 2016 model, but 2010-> the front posts are ONLY for adding power for opening boot for battery access. Warning stickers on cover. Nothing else. (shall not even turn ignition On)

I am not sure this is correct for all models. The handbook which came with my 2014 XJL 5.0 gives clear instruction for jump starting the engine using the connectors provided in the engine compartment. The instructions are on p178-179 of the hand book.

Same on my 2016 handbook says to use the posts up front not to connect direct to the battery

Ok. Thanks for clearing. I must then be changed on 2013 when electronics have changed a bit.

Unfortunately, making assumptions on a Jaguar can get very expensive very fast. Someone needs to determine the voltage at the starter connections, and see if the connections are clean of corrosion prior to condemning the starter motor.

As pointed out earlier in another post, the correct lifting method for the X351 is in the Owner's Manual. If the vehicle is lifted incorrectly, the glass roof can break as the body twists.
