Default Supercharger: Reinstallation and service made easy

buy a pair of fuel line / electrical connector pliers. $10 on Amazon. You don't stand a chance without them.

50,000 mile supercharger oil is medium brown and smells of the best fox pi _ _ you ever smelled. The oil contains sulfur compounds, which turn into sweet perfume. A V6 needs 4oz. You can change it by unscrewing the top fill port; 3/8 hex socket. Amazon sells the oil and needle-less 20ml syringes. While you have the neck off of the ST, it is easier to put the ST upside down and empty the oil and let it sit to completely drain. Go shower when you get the oil on your fingertips. Brake cleaner also helps.

The hockey puck has 1/4" of play in it after 50,000 miles. The hockey puck coupler in the neck comes off without removing the side pods. Remember bolt INSIDE of air intake hole. There are pry tabs on the bottom to break the gasketmaker silicone seal. Remember to put the one prong on the narrow side of the spring tip, otherwise it won't do you much good.

You can do both oil change and puck change easily without removing the ST.

Reinstalling a Jaguar or Range Rover supercharger.

The videos on Youtube show how to remove one but the reinstallation instructions on Youtube are AWFUL. It does not have to be a nightmare. It is really super easy for one person and takes 10-15 minutes.

1. you will destroy the 2 plastic hose holders under the supercharger. buy a silicone/fiberglass 3/4" diameter insulating sleeve with stainless steel zip ties on Amazon for $15 for the new hose. Stick a straight thin rod GENTLY through the hose so you can get it into the sleeve. Let it rest overnight to take the shape of the molded hose. Drill one 1/4" hole in each of the 2 1" by 1.5" flanges on the ST that held the old plastics hose hanger clips. Cover the part of the two zip ties that touches the holes in the aluminum with tubes of electrical shrink insulation and shrink it with heat.

2. Take 2 plastic coat hangers and cut four 6-8" rods from them. Roll up the short end of 2 towels to about 4-5 inch diameter; place on the insides of the valve cover gaskets. Put the supercharger on top of those. Tilt the ST with a 7-8" piece of 2x4 and thread the insulated hose though the zip this such that the hose hangs under the two metal flanges.

3. Place the new metal gaskets in place. Remove the 2x4. Position the supercharger by moving it around on the towels such that the 4 plastic rods go gently into the 4 end position holes. You have plenty of space to see what you are doing using a flashlight. You can clearly see the gaskets, rod ends and block holes in the gap between ST and block.

4. Gently remove each towel in turn while you lift the ST a little. Now move the ST around a tiny bit while supporting it until the two guide pins find the 2 holes in the engine block. You will feel the ST drop a half inch. Finger tighten the 6 bolts. Then torque them down to spec starting with center ones then opposing corners, 15nm then 20 nm then 25 nm

vacuum the 6 intake holes out to remove any gunk that may have entered.
