I got the chance to obtain a spare transmission from a very low miles 2011 vehicle that had been rear ended (42k miles proven), it was an XJ and is a 6 speed.

I believe the TCM inside the box is coded to the car, I know the adaptations can be wiped and reset with SDD but does it also contain a VIN number that requires update - can this be done also - or is this going to be another Jaguar exploitation route.

 

Did some poking around, the TCM does not contain a VIN or any reference to it so I think it is a plug in, clear adaptations and go play.

But can anyone tell me what this module is near the back - this is not the TCM (that's inside the box) >>
