I cannot get text message to appear on my MY16 jaguar xj luxury model, it has the 8” incontrol touch pro with the hdmi/sim and 2 usb sockets.

On the iphone when paired with the car, there is no notifications option in the saved profile. Is this available or do i need to activate or upgrade to be able to receive and send text messages from the incontrol screen?

It is not available on the 2016, which is what I was told from my dealership.
I was hoping one of the updates would make this happen but so far, no luck.

Do we know if this can be software enabled or do we need to change hardware?

anyone has had success getting message notifications to show up on newer Android phones with the latest software updates. I’ve tried toggling all the Bluetooth message access settings, but nothing seems to work. Curious if it's a car software issue or more on the phone's side...any recent experiences?

I have a 2019xj and a S25+ phone. It will display or read incoming text messages.

I tested this with a few different phones and what I noticed was all iPhone would connect and display messages via Bluetooth. The Samsung would also work without issues but none of the Google Pixels would work correctly. I tried the Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel 8 Pro.

What worked for me was using an sms api through my phone carrier's settings on the infotainment system. It's not super obvious, but once I got it set up, incoming messages started showing up on the screen, and I could even reply with pre-set responses. Make sure your phone's Bluetooth settings allow messaging access too—mine was off by default, and that blocked everything.
