Video screen
Hi has anyone added a video to their system for back seat. Or is there a way to turn on front video while moving? I was just watching a vid on lunch from back seat and need a better view.
Lol first world problems. Lol

I am also interested in this. Granted, I am thinking of a different modification. In my case, I would want the front screen to run as the car is driving forward so I can feed into it a thermal camera. The idea being that the thermal camera is going to pick up deer a lot easier than my eyes at night and they will also stand out when hidden behind light brush. I have a camera already, but looking to tap it into a monitor to give me viewing ability. Worst case (what my plan for the moment is), I will just add a 7" or so monitor to the right of the steering wheel near the windshield and display that image there and have it wired up so if I need headlights, then the camera and monitor come on.
Along the same lines, would it be possible to have the video display while still playing the music. Probably not. BUt, worth a ponderance.

Randy, there's a few options.
1) There's a way to add a device on the backside of the navigation system, that bypasses the feature on the xj that blacks out the navigation screen when a video is playing while driving. It's basically a wiring harness. It poses no risk to your factory system. It's an easy install. I've done it. It works like a charm! There's a thread on it.

2) It's possible to add a factory rear seat entertainment system. It's a lengthy and tedious process...but possible. I've actual done this as well. It was a pain in the a$$. It wasn't easy, but if you like everything factory OEM... it's possible. Here's the link to the thread.

3) An aftermarket rear seat entertainment system. The biggest difference from a factory and aftermarket is that the factory system is connected to all of other major modules in your vehicle via an orange fiber optic cable; creating a loop. The modules would all function together. On the other hand, an aftermarket system would be standalone and would work independently from other modules in the vehicle. It would only need a power source. An aftermarket system would be significantly cheaper and easier to install.
Hope this helps.

Has anyone figured out how to get video on the front monitor from one of the input sources in the center console (AUX, IPOD, or USB)? I'm good for the rear seat monitors, ADC has a solution for that.

To be clear, the link I posted only works for cars with rear seat monitors with RCA inputs. The front monitor is controlled by the three inputs in the center console.
