Voice control XJL 2011
EU, if you use the voice control, watch the instrument cluster. It will tell you what commands that it will accept. You then need to pronounce them a certain way or it will not understand what you are trying to say. Once you get to say the dialing a number portion, then you can say what is in the contacts list of your phone. But, again, it needs to be said very specifically. I know I battle with my car all the time. I also find that if you keep your voice a bit quieter and calm, it will help it pick up what you are saying.
... I am waiting for voice controlled golf *****. "Go in! Go in! GO IN!!!"
Are you aware of the "Voice Training" option?
This is a small set of steps where you speak certain words and the system listens and adapts to your accent.
Seemed to help mine be a bit more useful.

IF I'm wrong, someone correct me that has a 2017 XJL. From what I've read, earler versions of the XJ did have voice command for Navigation.
I'd be only too happy to be wrong about this.
I went to the AutoBahn, Jaguar dealer today and was assured that 2017 XJL do NOT have voice command for Navigation.
As long as I can drive and input destinations with my fingers, I'm satisfied, but if they ever make it so you can't input a destination on Nav unless your stopped.....customer won't be happy a'tall.
Out of curiosity, I drove a diesel XF four cylinder. I'm a bit surprised how well it does in the city and driving at a steady 80 mph. It's about the equivient of a Mercedes E-250 four cylinder diesel, but both a bit short of a BMW 540D or BMW 535D on performance. Just FYI
