I finally got this from Jaguar

Dear Eric

Thank you for contacting the Jaguar Customer Relationship Center. I appreciate your inquiry. The owners manual is made for to include many different markets and engine variants. The oil that should be used is what is depicted on the fill cap.

I hope this information is of use for you. If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-4-JAGUAR, option 9.

Sincerely,

*** Customer Question ***
My owner's manual says 5W 30 spec WSSM2C913-C motor oil should be used.
The oil filler cap on the motor says 5W 20, not 5W 30
The dealer used 5W 20
The oil manufactures say use 5W 30 spec WSS M2C913-C for a 2013 and for a 2014 use 5W 20 WSS M2C925- A only (superseded by WSSM@C 945-A)
Since my car was made towards the end of the 2013 model year I am unsure which oil to use.
Do I use the 5W 20 as on the cap and which the dealer used or the different spec 5W 30?
Thanks
Eric

That would make sense if the owners manual offered several choices and the cap narrowed it down to just one.

In this case the manual and cap are in complete conflict. Where does the oil cap specify the newer spec oil. How is an owner supposed to know?

I think you've been given a BS answer.

5w20 is written on the oil fill cap. If it is BS al least I have it from Jaguar so they can't void my warranty.

That's only the viscosity. What about the WSS spec?

Please, don't confuse the man further. Castrol Edge 5w-20 is what I would use. Especially since that's what the dealer already poured into the engine. Keep it the same.

How do you know that 945-A replaced 925-A? Can anyone verify this or share their experience using an oil on a newer model Jaguar that did not meet the recommended Ford WSS-M2C925A? I just don't want to do any harm to my engine...

This week, I ordered LIQUI MOLY 5w20 PART NUMBER: 2259. Online, AMAZON seller showed a picture description that it meets WSS M2C925- A specs... However, package arrived, I am feeling good, right specs, High quality oil at half the price charged by dealer, SURPRISE ....LIQUI MOLY part number 2259 is actually WSS M2C945 A, see pic. Even the manufacturer are confused with this nonsense from Jaguar. Or it could be the WSS M2C 945A superseded WSS M2C 925- A .

I will use this CATROL EDGE WSS M2C945-A. Just currious, has anyone used this oil.

Just a comment as I have my own incorrect oil thread going?

"5W 20 WSS M2C925- A ONLY (superseded by WSSM@C 945-A)".
Is wrong.
No where has anyone put in print that WSS-M2C925-A has been superseded by anything else.
The 945 spec oil is everywhere the 925 spec is pretty rare.

Now I think it should have but no ones claimed that yet in print.
