Thanks Stuart S. I went with the Prestone DEX Cool. It matches the specs on the coolant cap and it looks exacty like whats in the tank. Go figure. Lol. Thanks again.

My bet. Rear crossover pipe. My 2011 XJ started leaking there at 80k miles. Slow leak with a slight smell of coolant. I complained of a coolant smell and the dealer couldn’t find it, but my independent did. A month after my CPO warranty expired.

 

Where's the rear crossover pipe...? If we're reffering to the same area, I leak water there. It appears to be water anyway. If you took a knee looked at the rear of the vehicle, I get a leak where the left and right exhuast pipes first meet. It's directly in between the 2 rear tires. It seems to be water. I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

 

The rear crossover pipe is located at the very back of the engine. It connects both heads with coolant. You will need to remove the engine intake manifold to get to it. Major pain, but much cheaper than a new motor. Put the car on a lift and remove the bottom aero pans. Use a flashlight and look for coolant stains on top of the transmission dripping down.

 

Okay. We're talking about 2 different locations. Have you corrected this issue already? Any special tools needed? Thanks.

 

My mechanic did the job. No special tools, but a pain in the butt due limited space between the engine and firewall.

I had the same issue I replaced my water pump and thermostat 2 times cause I couldn't figure out the issue turns out it was the Y pipe under the intake manifold and the rear crossover pipe labor and install at the dealer i paid 1500 bucks
bad design cause the pipes are made of plastic

 

I wonder if you have the part no on the Rear crossover pipe?
